I don’t know, but take a look at last year’s thread. Of the many people who posted, not one reported being rejected. It looked like all acceptances and deferrals.
@finnb Do people normally report being rejected? I can see people just being a bit ashamed
That’s just what I’ve heard from a number of guidance counselors. If anything, i think it makes Wednesday more likely
maybe that could just be because the people who were rejected were too upset to post on the thread.
If it is Wednesday, will they all come out at once?
How about a different reason for the lack of rejections on CC?
Students (and parents too) generally posting on this site are a self-selected group. For example, kids who take the Math Level 2 exam, 20% +/- of them receive 800’s. Your here because you’re all bright with high stats, so I would think, few of you will get rejected and most of you will be accepted or deferred to RD.
Good luck to you all.
Fair point. Thank you
Can you get automatically rejected if your SAT isn’t competitive enough? I only have a 1200 SAT but a high 4.0 GPA and am in state
I don’t think there is such a thing as an automatic rejection in a holistic review process. However, a lower SAT will mean that other parts of your application have to make up for it. That being said, admissions people have told me that anyone can have a below par test day, so that is something they consider. It would be harder to explain a low GPA.
I think it would also depend on how many times you have taken the SAT, but obviously it would never be an automatic rejection. However, it would not be looked at as harshly if you had only taken it once.
No one know if there is an automatic rejection criteria. But with SAT 1200, a hook is needed to rescue the application. Holistic review process just means they would look at multiple factors. If one has any factor standing out, it will help the chance. So if one has one relatively weak factor, strengths in other factors may help. Nevertheless, that is already reflected in the admission stat (e.g. those with scores near or below 25th percentile). If a score is far out of the range, it would be very hard to rescue by other factors unless you have a very very strong hook.
FWIW, it doesn’t look like many (or any) rejections for ED at UChicago today. I saw one person who was deferred with a 3.45 GPA, which seems like an anomaly. And I forgot to mention that Princeton didn’t reject many here on CC either, many were deferred as well. Loads of great students here on CC, so very few rejections are posted for one reason or another.
Okay with a 1200 SAT, would involvement in like extra curricular activities such s NHS, Relay for life, student tutoring, 2 time state top 15 qualifier in Golf. And other factors like cancer and advanced placement in math be enough to really up the scales and be competitive?
Could someone please chance me? Applied to LSA

Is it necessary to self-report sat scores? I didn’t and im scared it will affect my app. I did send through the collegeboard.
Friday? or Wendnesday?
I don’t think you need to self report scores if you already sent it in through Collegeboard.
I got deferred from UChicago’s EA today when I honestly thought I’d be an easy reject, now I’m feeling a little more confident about Michigan I guess! I got denied at Cornell (ED) so I really have no clue…fingers crossed. It’ll either be wednesday or friday!!!
So I know a few had mentioned tomorrow as a possibility, is it still or did that get debunked?
@gradtke Technically every day is a possibility, but I don’t believe they’ve released scores on Tuesdays so I doubt they’ll be released tomorrow. I’m thinking Wednesday with Friday at the latest.
