I got an email 5 hours after I checked WA @letmein888
Do you think there will be another wave tomorrow?
@ialias, based on info provided by @danloeb, it sounds like the next wave would most probably be April 1st. But, it also seems like some are getting announced between the major waves with Fridays being the favored release day. So, here’s hoping you get some good news soon!
hi so I’ve communicated with my regional counselor (she’s the senior admissions counselor too… if that helps idk) a few times through email and phone and i sent in a letter of intent plus an additional letter of rec and at this point i feel like I’m annoying her but maybe I’m overthinking it. I want to call again just to make sure this isn’t anythingggg else i can possibly do to boost my application, but do you think that would be too desperate and would annoy her???
I’m in state, 32 act, 3.9 uw 4.05 w, president of 2 clubs, 2nd place state debate champion, i do 4/5 solid extracurriculars, and lots of volunteering hours, my essays were pretty subpar and bleh and I’m asian (not sure if that played a role?? bc I’m not really a smart asian) and i have no hooks i really really really reallyyyyy need to get in to umich so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
2 mins to go…i am really hoping Umich releases my decision today
@deferreddddd hi. So to answer your first question, I think what you’ve done so far as for contacting your counselor will definitely suffice. The devotion and interest you have with umich will certainly appeal to the counselor, no doubt. However, The counselor is probably a very busy lady who has to read tons and tons of applications so it’s best to just let her be and let her make the decision. However, it would be wise to send in a list of current achievements from time to time so it can be added to your application.
Speaking of your application, your stats are nothing short of impressive. Believe me, I was in the same boat a mere two weeks ago with nearly identical stats (higher act but lower gpa) and the crappy essays and I too thought I was dumb compared to my Asian friends but they still accepted me in the end. I truly believe that you still have a very very good chance of being accepted. Do not fret!
any updates? nothing for me yet
Neither for me.
Nothing here. Appears there were no decisions released so far today. A big dud.
Just checked mine today and talked to some friends, still no decisions released as far as I can tell.
My stats:
GPA: 3.91 W
ACT: 28
Major: Computer Science @ LSA
Extra Currics:
President/Co-Founder of Club 4 Studies of Modern Interactive Media
President of Fiddle Club
Vice President of National Honor Society
Team Captain of Forensics Speech and Debate Team
3 Time State Finalist in Forensics Storytelling for Michigan
5th Place Freshman Year
1st Place (State Champion) Sophomore Year
2nd Place Junior Year

Really hoping my extra-currics and essays will be enough to pull up my lousy merit stats.
Just got accepted to COE!!!
Go Blue!!
Accepted to LSA on Friday! My ACT is a 30, so there’s definitely hope for us middle-of-the-roaders!
@ug1975 did you just get accepted today?? are you in state?
@anisa7498 yup i got accepted today on WA. haven’t yet received the mail though. i’m an international applicant
I found an interesting statistic on collegedata.com last night. For the year 2015 admittance, 12,631 were wait listed, 4,457 accepted the wait list, 91 were actually admitted from wait list.
@klulug An even more interesting statistic…In 2010, according to the Princeton Review, Umich had an acceptance rate of 50% and ACT desired score of 27-31! Based upon all that I have read and reviewed here, a lot has changed! Can we say that it is for the better? I wonder…
@anxious917 and @UofM2016Hopeful and @wolverinefan11 - seems like you (and my daughter) are all in the same situation. I have seen two or three Kinesiology acceptances. But, very, very few. I’m not sure if they are announcing differently this year or whether this particular major is not well-represented on CC. I reminded my daughter that despite the higher acceptance rate/lower admission stats for this school, Kinesiology is a very small program compared to others at Michigan. They only want to fill 250 freshman positions. The entire school is only 1000 students. So, who knows what might go into their decision making. Perhaps being OOS may be a greater disadvantage than in other schools/majors. Oh well, she has some other great options (and hope that is true for all of you as well), but still Michigan is her top choice school for several reasons. I suppose it will all be decided within the next 2-3 weeks. Good luck!
@ProudDad26 My daughter went to the Campus Day for admitted students over the weekend for Kinesiology and she said there were a lot of kids and most were there for Movement Science majors. I think there have been a lot of acceptances but it is not well represented on CC. There were only 3 dates for Campus day for Kinesiology…one in Febrary and March 11 and 18. Maybe call to see if there is one in April and it may give you an idea if acceptances are still coming or if they are complete.
** just checked and there is one on April 8 so I am sure more acceptances will be coming out.
@hld3471 thanks so much for the information. This is discouraging. She’s such a great student and wanted so badly to be at Michigan. She’s contacted the regional admissions rep several times, communicated that she will go if accepted. Her college counselor at school has even called for her. ACT 33, GPA 3.95 - competitive athlete, multiple relevant extracurriculars (e.g. worked with physical therapists throughout high school). . . has visited. . . not sure what happened. OOS, though and no legacy status. sad.
@ProudDad26 Hang in there…it’s not over till it’s over so hopefully the wait will be worth it and she will be admitted.
