University of South Carolina Early Action for Fall 2023

2021 - Feb 17th was the date that kids heard back if they were deferred.
2022 - Feb 16th was the date kids heard back….

Do we know if they simply are not releasing decisions for EA students that were deferred this year until March? We are seeing lots of kids are in this constant “deferred” state with multiple schools. And they do not want to “remove their name” from the deferred or waitlist until their preferred choice lets them know if they are in….

I received the same - currently deferred status. Not sure if it means anything.

When do regular admissions decisions come out?

I think their website says March 1 so next week.

Thank you.

Oh wait it says by March 15. Sorry.

My son was accepted EA and recently was asked to verify his US Residency. Sounds positive for you all!

I got my citizenship verified, VIP ID email, and FASFA check two weeks ago and I was acceoted back in November-
So I think this all has to do with Fin Aid notifications coming out next month.

Was the Citizenship verification sent to you or your son? My daughter received the VIP email and FASFA check but she and I haven’t gotten one for the citizenship verification.

It came to both parents- just a confirmation of verification, and I don’t know if my son also got it.

A citizenship verification showed up in my email (not my kid’s) back in the first week of February.

Yes

Just tell them to plan to get there very early. I stayed a 5 minute drive from the parking garage, and it took me 45 minutes to get there and parked. They had tons of personnel directing cars in quickly, but it was just a lot of cars arriving at once. I hate to be late, so I was kicking myself that I didn’t leave earlier.

Crucial info - thanks for this. I will tell them to go at dawn, lol, and just meander and get coffee or something. They both adore roaming the streets to check out a new place, so it’ll be exactly what they want.

Oh, but hmm, maybe there’s a start time when the garage opens. I’ll ask the admissions peeps.

As far as roaming, if you know, is there a cool cafe or something nearby?

I have no idea. I had my daughter and her friend with me, and we went running from the parking garage to make our first presentation. They were admitted to two different schools, so we attended two presentations that morning, then did a tour. After that, we were too tired to walk anywhere else! I’m sure if they arrive by 7:45-8, they’ll have a much easier time parking, and they can look around. They will sign in at the Welcome tent, which is located right in front of the student center, which houses a food court and the bookstore. They could surely get coffee there.

If they are looking for coffee/breakfast try cool beans/college grounds. Went there over the summer when visiting and they had the best home made biscuits and a cool vibe.
