I’m not sure. It’s on a thread for deferred students so maybe they just released those.

D23 (OOS) was deferred back in December and just received acceptance. She has not received the VIP ID email (didn’t do FAFSA, so no request for verification there either)

That’s great!!! I’m curious was there any merit mentioned?

Not in the acceptance letter, but I haven’t clicked around the portal. Given the deferral. I’m not expecting any. Kind of a bummer since she has merit offers at many of her other EA schools

Two of my daughter’s deferred friends got their decisions today.

DD was deferred from EA and was just waitlisted. We already deposited at UDel so we have moved on! Good luck everyone!

Best of luck to your daughter at UDel. Great school! Did your letter include a date when waitlisted people can expect to hear?

Thanks!

Thank you for applying to the University of South Carolina. This year’s applicant pool is one of the most academically talented in the university’s history, making admission more competitive than ever.

Although we are currently unable to offer you a place in our 2023 freshman class, we hope you will accept a place on our waitlist. If we are able to admit you from the waitlist, your choice of major will be considered. If no space remains in your first-choice major you may be offered admission into your second-choice major.

To accept a place on the waitlist, submit the Waitlist Response Form no later than May 1, 2023. We will update your status by mid-May. If we do not receive the form, we will assume you plan to attend college elsewhere and cancel your application.

We appreciate your interest in the university and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Orehovec, Ph.D.
Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management
Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Son was accepted today but no mention of merit scholarship. Anyone know if that means he’s SOL?

Official merit scholarships come out mid March. Many were informed they’d be getting one, but amount to be released in March. Others did not receive any scholarship language in their admission letter, but still might receive some. Last year my daughter’s admission letter didn’t include anything, but she was awarded one in March. Hoping the same for my younger daughter now!

Thank you. Hope springs eternal!

I think you may see a ton of kids taken from the waitlist this year. My guess is the sheer number applications and accepted students with stats worthy of much more than USC will actually throw off USC’s yield formula and these high stat students will be going elsewhere.

I hope you’re right, and all of those high stats students turn down that merit money so they give some to my daughter! :joy:

The last of the Honors College decisions went out on Feb 17th, so I agree that many high stat kids will be moving on. USC’s Honors College is incredibly exclusive, so many will have great offers elsewhere. Best wishes! The wait can be brutal.

Still waiting for merit and financial aid info here too. Wishing they released this info w the acceptance letters. Looking/considering elsewhere, as USC is late in the game compared to many other colleges with financial information coming with admissions letters.

Many are given that information with their admission letters. Mine was not. However, last year my older daughter also did not receive her scholarship with the admission letter, then was offered a generous scholarship in March. Like you said, though, she had already moved on. If she had been offered it from the start, she would have seriously considered USC.

It usually does come in the acceptance letter. There is always the rare chance of receiving it later but it’s not the norm sadly!!!

Does anyone with older children at UofSC have any feedback on Critical Tracking Science courses? My other child at a different SEC school experienced extremely difficult BIO, CHEM, PHYSICS and CALC "weed out
" courses. Wondering how these courses are at UofSC. Thank you in advance.

Great question! I am wondering the same.
