Nothing. You just don’t get your deposit back. Good luck with Cornell!
@Gowolfpacks18 I should hear back from Cornell this Tuesday.
Thanks for the help guys! @EffieWhite @Gowolfpacks18
Oh another question! I have to accept the admission first in order to be able to pay the deposit right?
I wonder how many come off the waitlist for transfers this year. Hopefully a spike in numbers please. Heck even its 15 or so wouldn’t be terrible odds from the pool of waitlist. 450 typical waitlist with less than 5 last year so about 1% chance lol.
does anyone know any that have deferred yet?
Has anyone else submitted their community standards forum? If so, did you do the background check or the current school official? Any idea how much a background test costs? I called admissions and they said that it needed to be signed by my academic advisor at my current school. Any advice on this?
@TranslationLost My son picked the background check. I didn’t think that anyone at his community college would know him well enough to sign off on the standards form. From what I know and have paid, a simple background check is usually $45-$60. I don’t know what UNC uses or how much it actually costs.
They sent out an email last night. The standard background check costs $18.50.
My son submitted the background check yesterday. It says you’ll be charged $20.00 but then it gets reduced to $18.50 after everything is submitted.
hmm…did anyone else send their community standards form in about 3 weeks ago and it still isn’t removed from the to-do list? I imagine they are super backed up but I’m always paranoid that my stuff gets magically lost in the mail…not sure how strict they are with the deadline approaching but I don’t want to find out either
@Gowolfpacks18 My son emailed his standards form and it was accepted within a couple of days.
Did anyone else order a laptop with the laptop grant and get a higher priced model? We were told that my son would be charged the difference between the grant and the higher price. Today he was charged the full price of the laptop. We’re in the process of finding out what’s going on, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else??
@NosyParent16 I got an email that listed the full price, but my card only has a pending charge for the upgrade amount.
@NosyParent16 thanks for this!! I just checked and now it’s off of my to-do list…I think it took so long because I sent it via snail mail.
Also, I ordered an upgraded model but haven’t been charged anything (yet)…when you ordered your laptop, did you type in the account number for your grant during check out and verified it before placing the order? This is the only thing I could thing of that could be causing the confusion…I am interested in knowing the outcome of this…
@Gowolfpacks18 For the laptop, we had called after the order was placed to add the credit card that the difference could be charged to. Apparently, this messed up the order. They cancelled the order today and we’ll have to resubmit it once everything is credited. It will still be ready for orientation.
Has there been any news on waitlist?
Is anyone else attending the orientation this Friday (June 3)? If yes, do you know if the FPG student Union is the same as the Carolina student union?
Our hotel shuttle goes to the Carolina student union but the orientation documentation says the FPG student union.
Yes, it is the same. The union was named for Frank Porter Graham…Next to the Pit and Student Stores.
Does anyone know if the accepted, waitlist students have been informed yet? Thanks
I saw on the admissions blog that some have been notified and I guess if people decline then they will let me in(fingers crossed they do!) this is my number one choice and I didn’t sign with another school planning that unc would accept me!
House assignments are up…not thrilled or surprised that I didn’t get any of my options
