@vikiiii Oh nice There may be a different timeline for international, but regardless, its great that you were able to do an in person one!!
Questbridge applicants will know the decision in early December. All others will know at the same time.
Two people will read the application. Their decision will pass to the regional admission officers, which will select and forward the list to the selection committee (school representative will participate), The selection committee will make final decision. For super strong applicants, the second step will skipped. The application will go directly to selection committee.
@f2000sa, I thought the decisions would be released in mid-December. Do you mean the decision date will be known in early December?
@elena719 Early December is the decision date for QuestBridge applicants. Last Year, it was Dec. 1st.
Are we positive that the decision notification date will be before December 15?
Questbridge decisions are December 3rd this year.
Most likely Dec. 14th, 5PM EST. Just my guess, no official announcement yet.
@f2000sa Ah, I see. When you said “All others will know at the same time,” I thought you meant same time as Questbridge applicants, but I guess you meant same time as each other.
@hsclassof2023 No, a friend of mine said that it could be pushed to Dec 15-20 (i know, come on I want to enjoy the holidays XD)
@f2000sa More likely to be 7pm EST because West Coast students would still be in school at 5pm EST.
I highly doubt that the time they release their decisions is any way connected with when kids get out of school. While it was 7 p.m.last year, some years it was 5, other years it was 3.
In 2017, decisions were released December 13 at 4:00 pm PST, 7:00 pm EST.
In 2016, it was December 9 at 3 pm EST.
In 2015, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. EST.
@bichon_frise99 there is definitely something weird going on with the admissions this year. They haven’t released the ED numbers etc. I think Dec 15-20 is very possible (just a speculation).
yo yo yo people any guess as to when ED decisions come out?
December 13th at 7:00 PM makes the most sense. Its even listed in the Alumni Interview Portal according to some interviewers. Also, the fact the DP didn’t release applicant numbers yet may mean that this year just wasn’t “record breaking” enough or not worth writing an article on, in terms of applications.
I agree with @collegeboi2023 — at least his answer is the one that I’m hoping is correct, as I don’t want to wait until Dec. 20! Anyways, a non-record-breaking year means better odds for us, right? Out of curiosity, what is leading people to think that the decision date might be after Dec. 15? I really hope that’s not the case.
Penn has recently been reluctant to release admission related data. The DP usually publishes the yield data every year. It did not do it for class 2022. It also did not publish the number of ED applicants this year. My bet is that the number of ED applicants is higher, or at least on par with last year. Either way, the impact of difficulty of getting in is insignificant.
@f2000sa I believe Penn did release ED applicant numbers last year on the DP. This article was released November 15th
https://www.thedp.com/article/2017/11/penn-ed-applicant-pool-record-high-higher-ed-ivy-league
Either way, I still think you’re right that the number of applicants has gotten higher
^ in the above article, it is stated that the applicants would be receiving their decisions on Dec. 13 at 7 pm. So, even though the applicants weren’t notified until early December, the information was released earlier. I wonder why no such information exists yet for us.
Still too early, They will email you a few days before the official decision release.
@skieurope sorry, I wasn’t aware of that. That’s just what my guidance counselor told me
