UPenn ED Class of 2023

Quick question for anyone who had a video conference for an interview: Were your interviews around 30 min as well. I’m getting kinda worried bc people have like hour long or even more interviews. The invite my interviewer sent me said that it was gonna last from 9:30-10 but I’m still worried that negatively impacted my app.

yep im an huntsman applicant and mine was around 30 minutes! I know another huntsman applicant with a skype interview around 35-40 too. It should be fine as long as you managed to get the points you wanted across and your questions asked! Although video interviews do kind of suck :confused: lol

@jackbauer4401
@asianfu
I was put into a 25 minute max phone interview slot and mine lasted 20 mins soo lol I have most reason to be worried

And I mean if anything sucks more than a video interview it would be a phone interview, wasnt too conducive to having a conversation e

@asianfu @qwxmntklp yeah I’m also applying to Huntsman, maybe it’s their policy.

@jackbauer4401 @asianfu @qwxmntklp I also applied to huntsman and had an interview over Skype. I think I remember it lasting roughly 25 minutes. I didn’t get to talk about everything I wanted, but was still able to talk about most of the “interesting” things about me. My interviewer emailed me back to tell me that she wrote me a really good rec and she wants to hear from me if I have questions or if I get in. I could tell the lady had her other things to do on top of the interview so she probably wouldn’t have even had enough time to stay for longer than half an hour. I definitely wouldn’t worry about it. If mine was only 25 mins and she was pleased with it, I’m sure most Huntsman interviews/Skype interviews are pretty short and all of y’all prob did great.

Yeah that’s an interesting correlation. Just curious what’s state/country you applying from and what language?

@asianfu I’m applying from NY and Spanish as a target language, wbu?

hey guys! i just had my interview on the 25th. First, we planned to facetime, but the connection wasn’t so good, so we decided to talk over the phone instead. My interviewer was really accommodating and really nice overall. There weren’t a set of questions he’d ask and I’d answer. If my answer to one of his questions seemed interesting or worth elaborating on, the conversation went along with that and evolved into something else. So, in other words, be prepared to think on your feet when they ask questions, and its good to prepare with the typical interview questions, but just keep in mind those won’t be the extent of the interview.
Some questions he asked were:
What do you see yourself doing with a Wharton degree?
What is has been your biggest challenge and how has it shaped you?

Also don’t be afraid to admit your flaws! Obviously, don’t make it the main point of the interview, but don’t be afraid to say something like “I’ve always been terrified of public speaking, and haven’t really excelled at it, but I joined a debate club and did a TED talk to better myself” (this was me lmao)

From Colorado targeting Chinese! Good luck!

Bruh there’s no way I’m getting in if they only take four minutes to read my application

That might be true at @jdecker9 but each application has two sets of eyes reading it simultaniously

Stay positive!!!

Has Penn ever released decisions on the same date for two consecutive years? I know for 2017, 2016, and 2015 the release dates were all different.

@asianfu best of luck to you as well, hope to see you there next year!

@casevee thanks for posting!

This article eases that bit of worry that the acceptance rate is going to become even more drastically low but I’m sure the applicant pool has still improved.

Why you gotta be so pessimistic :confused:

@asianfu you’re right. let’s hope for the best :slight_smile:

I saw on a Cornell thread that it was December 10th at 7 PM… but not sure if that is true. Also, I had my interview for Wharton last Wednesday and it lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes.
