UPenn ED Class of 2023

Does anybody else happen to have like 20 kids applying ED from their school? How many do yall think they would take/defer/reject

I don’t, but I would assume it totally depends. What’s your state? What’s the competitive level of your school? Are the students in your area good with academics and/or extracurriculars? But from what I understand, larger numbers don’t exactly help your case, unless you can prove you rise above the rest @jackbauer4401

I guess I’m lucky because I’m the only person applying from my school and I have 732 kids in my grade. We have like 10 people applying to Brown though. I feel like it’s because of that discrepancy — that there are schools with just one ED applicant and then schools with 20 — that there’s no quota from certain schools. Rather, there might be a quota for different regions.

I’ve got about 450-480 kids in my grade, and I’m one of the only ones applying ED at all haha, we’re not competitive at all. counselor called me one of her special kids but i’m about as ambitious as the next college confidential kid lmao its wack. but i dont have straight As so i cant really talk much

@kungfukenny @britdarrow nah its da messed. I’m from NY and my grade has like 300 kids, but like everyone’s academically competitive and tries super hard (not saying issa bad thing lmao), my biggest fear is they’re gonna see that everyone’s academically competitive, go to the subjective stuff and maybe weed out some people there, but go back to the academic stuff and then weed out the bottom of that pile. I know for a fact where I do well is ec’s. My grades are good, but subpar compared to everyone else applying to penn

Got it got it. we’ll see, context really matters, so don’t stress too much. plus admissions is probably all done anyways. sending positive vibes ur way  @jackbauer4401

I’m lowkey tweaking, I legit remember hitting that sumbit button so vividly. I can’t believe its almost here. Either we’re gonna open our portals and be greeted by the infamous Penn 2023 video and booming music, or a thiccy L.

Does anyone here have an interview after December 3rd? It seems like I’m the only one. Very weird. I wonder if it means anything?

@jackbauer4401 usually ~4 ppl from the senior class at my school apply to Penn ED but this year we have many times more. It’s become a really popular choice here lol

@ibanker38 Interview dates are just based on the logistics of the interviewers, so don’t worry. Getting an interview or not and when it is does not demonstrate Penn’s interest; its just how the schedule worked for the interviewer assigned to you. So don’t worry that your interview is so late

Depends on the HS.

If it’s Andover - 10/8/2
If if’s a Phila feeder school -5/10/5
If it’s East Podunk High - 0/1/19

My school is extremely competitive and we’re like the #1 open-enrollment high school in our state, and I think around 7 people at my school applied ED to Upenn. how do u think the distribution of accept/defer/reject is going to be? everyne who is applying is either a superstar or really smart (I’m the only one applying to SAS though thank god)

If your school use Naviance, you can find the application history. It is usually a good indicator of how your school are viewed by Penn.

@BokysEdits im asking bc the final deadline for interview reports is the 3rd. Mine is scheduled for the 4th.

@f2000sa Oof our school has a 7.5% acceptance rate from Penn, I’m pretty sure our Naviance is fairly inaccurate though (like it says that someone was accepted with a 2.74 and a 900 and I’m fairly sure that our public school hasn’t had any members of the royal family attend)

@jdecker9 kids are allowed to self-report their acceptances/rejections on Naviance and school counselors don’t notice, so sometimes people write that they got accepted with impossibly low scores as a joke.

@kathleenc13 Exactly, which is why I never trust Naviance

hey y’all im a freshman at Penn studying Math. Just checking in if any of you have questions. I know this can be a stressful time so just ask away. I may be late to responding b/c i have class but just hmu

Notification date confirmed! December 13th, 7 PM EDT. Received official email just seconds ago.

@Inxight Is math at Penn a very popular major? Is the popularity growing? Is the department growing? How collaborative are the students? As a freshman, how hard is it to get the classes you want?
