USC Will Mail Freshmen Acceptances on March 27, 2012

It has been posted in a headline on the USC Admissions Forum on the university website.

Letters of Admission will be mailed on March 27, 2012 to those accepted for the freshmen class entering in August 2012.

The USC Admissions Committee sends the packets by USPS prioriity mail. It is a large white packet about 11' by 13". Inside is a cardinal folder embossed with the seal of the university. Open the beautiful folder and there is the letter of admission. Also in the packet is a certificate and information about orientation and housing.

Your long wait is nearly over! Tuesday, March 27th is the day!

is this the date for domestic as well as international applicants ?

tiger,

The headline began “All admissions decisions”. In the second part of the announcement was a comment regarding transfer admissions. My guess would be both domestic and international would be mailed on the 27th other than transfer admissions.

Does this include rejection letters?

That’s a total bummer for transfer students. Grrrrr…I hope they will send out some letters in waves starting then.

DJ,

Remember transfer applicants did not have to have their applications in until a February date. I am guessing there were about 10,000 applicants this year for transfer admission. The committee needs time to consider that many applications. At the same time they are processing the incoming acceptances from the freshmen who commit to USC.

So, when do you guys think the USPS/DHL email will be sent out to us if USC sends out the mails on the 27th?

How long do you think it’ll take to reach Alaska?

I live in Illinois, and I got my admission decision 4 days after the postmarked date… don’t freak if it doesn’t arrive soon.

Obviously those who are international will receive it slightly later than those in USA…

The website says you can call them starting 4/3 if you don’t receive a letter by then.

How long after the letters are mailed will the web portal change?

Any of you others getting “Runtime Error” when you try accessing your USC Portal? Something like “Server Error in ‘/’ Application” comes up when I try accessing USConnect. Any of you others seeing this?

So they don’t send emails? Only the decision by mail? Is it going to be posted online too?

I’m assuming the rejection letters will come in small envelopes then? GAH this is killing me

Sighhhhh…this waiting is tough. When son 1 got his acceptance, it arrived in early March and I wasn’t expecting it at all. Now, with son 2 I’ve come to expect that timing and it feels like I’ve been waiting an eternity. The frustrating part is a few scholarships for which my son is applying require him to submit a copy of an acceptance letter by April 1. If letters aren’t mailed out until the 27th and we live in Illinois that is cutting it close. (Of course he can submit the acceptance from another school, but USC is the only one he cares about.) The other annoying thing is talking to my inlaws who keep asking about his acceptances and can’t seem to grasp that the more competitive schools don’t make acceptances that quickly. (Some of the less competitive schools have rolling admissions and so they know kids who got acceptances before Christmas. ) It is so frustrating to try to explain to them that he hasn’t heard anything yet.

Are they mailing them on the 27th or will everyone everywhere be receiving their decisions on the 27th?

Mailing…

@Georgia Girl…how long did it take for your mail from USC to reach you in GA? We’re in the South as well.

Just waiting,

My home is now in Georgia. I am from a Trojan family from Orange County, CA. and a native Californian. Yes, the Trojans are active here in this southern state. We have a large USC alumni club in the greater Atlanta area.

Since the packets are mailed priority mail my guess would be a Friday arrival. It might be a day later if you live in a rural area.
