UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

srsly my mind=blown

Haha!

Well back when I attended school a few years ago, I had gotten C’s D’s and an F, really messed up twat not caring about his grades.

So fast forward 3-4 years later and decided to restart my schooling and got all A’s in all my classes so I had a 4.0 GPA at my community college, but because UT counts all past grades, my GPA was a 3.32 or 3.36, not too sure, but it wasn’t any higher. I just put all my soul into my 3 essays =/. And I wanted to get into Natural Sciences and Engineering was my 2nd choice…so ya lol, even the advisor in the Computer Science department was like…um how did you get into Engineering and not Computer Science…

So ya, I was shocked, SHOCKED , when I got a “Congratulations…”

They probably liked the positive trend. That’s awesome!

I found out this morning that i got into McCombs!!!
And i had already given up all hope!
SO HAPPY! YAY

Congrats bombazo and hellothere09. Moniso if you look under your status check there is a link that shows which credits transfered :)

thanks for your positivity Longhorn =D this means alot to me and I’m sure it does to alot of transfer peeps in here hehe.

@Cherry I was always wondering how to check credit transfer, and you provided the answer, thanks!!

@cherrybomb82 or babycakin, I opened up the link to check for credit transfer. It took me to the Interactive Degree Audit and I have a bunch of courses listed that are sorted by semester, title, type, grade, etc…

I have the word “transfer” listed under the Type column for all my courses. Does that mean that all my courses transfered? Or is my approach completely wrong and there is another way to check for transferred credits?

Congrats to everyone who has been admitted over the past couple of days!

@ramezb Yeah, as long as it says transferred and the credit hours counted. I don’t think they list courses that didn’t transfer.

Does anyone else have registration bars? I have two one that will be cleared when I send my final transcript and a “TSI Status: BARRED FROM REGISTRATION (NO TSI INFO)”.

I have the same two bars for registration. How do we get the TSI cleared? On my ACC transcript it says TSI complete. I was searching the UT website but didn’t really find anything.

[Exemptions | School of Undergraduate Studies](<a href=“Exemptions | TEXAS Undergraduate Studies”>Exemptions | TEXAS Undergraduate Studies)

I meet the following exemptions:

The student has earned a bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree.

The student has attended another institution and has been determined to have met readiness standards by that institution.

I’m guessing the TSI will be cleared during your first academic advising session.

Sounds like the TSI is something for freshman, but is placed on transfer students registration info sheet as well.

@cherrybomb & @ramez

I clicked in there and apparently none of my courses transfered… Did you have to make something else to see your transfered credits? Is it possible that they hadn’t transfered anything yet, and the will later…?? I’m worried about this…

btw, @cherrybomb thanks for the tip!

Moniso, i called today regarding the same problem. a guy told me that our transfered courses will be released or available in the summer. i asked if i had to pay the deposit and commit before i knew how many credits where transferable, the guy answered “yep u have to pay ur deposit before”

its confusing because i dont know if a lot or just a couple of credits will transfer. u could call and confirm this.

bombazo… thanks for the info, I totally trust what you where told…

I believe that this happens because we are international students and they need to study each case in detail… they probably want to save the work from those students who decide not to go to UT …

thanks! =)

Curious, if I were to take a class during summer school, would that be able to transfer?

@moniso: under the IDA tab, I had all the courses I took at my previous school listed as well as the grades I got in said courses. I’m not sure if this means that the courses transfered or not. I wanted to know such information before paying the deposit and committing but I guess I’ll have to roll the dice on this one.

Do you guys know if transfer orientation truly is required and/or beneficial? Looking at previous threads, it doesn’t seem like people learned anything new (pretty much a repitition of what we heard freshman year). So for all the OOSers, is it worth the airfare?

@DarkRyder, I called my local admissions counselor yesterday asking the same question because I plan on taking Calculus II over the summer, and she said you can send your transcripts in after you’ve finished the course (“but make sure to do well!”). But if you’re someone that is in the process of finishing up their 30 hours, she didn’t sound too sure as to whether or not you would be able to take a summer class because transcripts are due June 15th… But I don’t think that situation applies to most of us.

@ramezb, I don’t think that the transfer orientations are REQUIRED, but you do get to check out the campus, meet new students, and register for classes… I think the last one especially is important…

For some reason, I was always under the assumption that transfer orientation was a must, especially if it your 1st time attending UT Austin

I’m willing to sacrifice not seeing the campus and not being able to meet people at orientation if it will save me that $500 plane ticket from the northeast - considering I’ll be making the same trip a month later or so when I finally move.

With that said, does anyone know if there is a way to register for classes online or perhaps on the phone with an adviser or do I have to meet with them face-to-face?
