It arrived here too!
Finally got acceptance packet in the mail! Does anyone know approximately when Echols/rodman scholars will be notified?
A friend in northern Virginia got Echols offer today.
Is Echols/rodman scholars the same thing as an “honors program”? Or is there no honors program at UVA or…?
EA Admission packet is here in Texas. A well done admissions letter!
Does anyone know the answer to this earlier question by @1600mPenn : “For those of you who were accepted, when you click on “View Financial Aid” in the SIS does it bring you to a page that says “Aid year: 2016 Institution: University of Virginia Aid Year Description: Inquiry Access Denied”? I’m confused about the “Inquiry Access Denied” part.”
Echols letter received! Still have not gotten the acceptance packet though.
@jxnnx97 i would assume it has to do with the fact that aid packages aren’t finalized, especially since UVa financial aid materials are due 3/1
So I was accepted as an OOS student but did not get into the Echols scholars program. I know I can self nominate in my freshman year if that is where I decide to go but is it true that they reconsider everyone during regular decision even if I was already accepted or did I just misread something? Like even though I was accepted EA I can hear about Echols when regular decision comes out?
Everyone applying to Arts and Sciences gets considered for Echols when their application is reviewed. If you got admitted EA, you do not get a second consideration for Echols during RD, because your application is not being reviewed again.
If an applicant were deferred from EA to RD, they would get considered for Echols when they review RD applications… however, if the application was not impressive enough for admission EA, basically not as good as admitted applicants who mostly did not get selected for Echols, then the odds are pretty dim of it having a completely different reading in RD.
In your particular case, no, you cannot enter as a first year Echols scholar, but yes, you can nominate yourself in first year for your later years.
I know FCC addressed your question, but just FYI ineversleep, 2nd year OOS D was deferred EA and then accepted RD. She was not Echols, but applied and was accepted in the summer after completing her 1st year. It is a little tricky with course management and she did take a few area requirements that ended up not being necessary, but it’s doable. Best of luck with your decision & congrats on the acceptance.
