Admitted to the University… BBA Application process shall now begin…
Accepted, but unfortunately they sent the decisions so late I decided to go with another school.
I’m going to probably apply for Spring, I know I’m very likely to be accepted to a school of equal caliber this Spring(says an admissions counselor) as well once I get the pre-reqs done so I’ll have a backup. Third time being denied, hopefully not going to be a fourth… apparently it’s not as holistic of a process as I previously believed. I’m taking courses this summer at UW and then 17-20 credits(depending if I get off the waitlist) this Fall at my current U, in addition to two research positions I was offered by professors. I’ll have completed ~82 credits with >3.8 in two years with almost no AP credits. Part of me understands the easiest option would be to finish at my current U with the weak program and overall fairly easy curriculum, but I cannot stand the town I’m in. My friends and I have been attacked by townspeople everytime we go out, I stopped a possible sexual assault on the Main Street of campus on Cinco de Mayo of two older townspeople, I’ve lost a classmate this semester due to the heavy influence on alcoholism on campus, there’s no interest in academics and my advisor has very little interest in my pursuits, and only advises me on the idea that I stay at my current U. I went to my current U for the Art program, which is FANTASTIC, but I am no longer an art major and hope to find somewhere else to study. In the mean time, I hope doing well this Summer and Spring will make them see the time I dealt with medical reasons and family concerns does not show who I am as a student. Hopefully I can finally have the enjoyable college experience I know so many people have for my final ~40 credits needed for my degree. I wish you all luck if you’ve been denied. Don’t give up on what you want, and continue working hard. Believe me, if I can still keep my head up after being denied 3 times I know you all can too
So my family said just pay the enroll deposit, apply for housing, attend SOAR and if not admitted to the BBA just drop it and go to UW-Whitewater so that’s what I’m doing.
I already got assigned a residence hall, transfer credit report was processed and I’m going to SOAR on 6/28/2016… Despite not being admitted to the BBA program yet. They should be releasing admissions late June/early July
@Natalie278 wow that’s a lot. Yeah you should be admitted to UW. Other options I’d say recommend looking into in WI are Marquette University and UW-Milwaukee. UWM for sure you’d be admitted, and they have been doing really well recently overall. In addition you should have no problem finding an internship during the school year even when enrolled at either university as they’re both in the downtown Milwaukee area.
ok I even if I am not admitted to the BBA I would find it HARD to just not attend classes there! I just created my schedule today…
BBA decisions announced by end of next week… help me Grainger Hall!!! XD
WSB BBA Admissions announced: Denied
Care to share your stats?
@nkeshvala im sorry I hear that:( do you think you are still going to attend Madison or uw whitewater like you mentioned before?
I might go to Whitewater just because if I went to Madison and tried to reapply in Spring it’s still going to be highly competitve
FYI: I heard through the grapevine that only 30% of applicants to the business school were admitted in this cycle. (I’m not referring to direct-admit incoming freshmen).
wow… I find that interesting because it’s been 60% to about 70% in the past. There may have been more applicants this year that required them to be that selective.
It could be related to the budget cuts.
@Madison85, you seem to be pretty attuned to what’s going on admission-wise. What are your thoughts about admissions under the Minnesota Reciprocity agreement? It looks like Madison has been accepting 5%-7% fewer MN applicants every year (over the previous year) since 2011. I’m basing that on data through the fall 2015 admissions tables (Fall 2016 not yet available). Wondering if they are (gradually or otherwise) switching out MN kids for OOS tuition-paying enrollees.
Edit: Sorry meant to apologize in advance for using a transfer thread to bring up this question. I was referring to FTF, not transfers.
I haven’t heard any scuttlebutt about a conscious effort to reduce Minnesota admits.
True. The budget cuts has had a major effect on the UW Colleges as well. The business school may be eating into their donations as a result of that.
Admitted after appealing! Just accepted and paid the deposit
@MadwthanE Very happy to hear. Did you just now hear of a reply? Cutting pretty close to the Fall semester :o but regardless, congrats! You earned it.
Thanks. Yes I just heard yesterday. It took way longer than I expected and now I’m just trying to get everything done before school starts in a couple weeks! @Natalie278
