Vanderbilt ED1 Discussion Thread Class of 2021

How exactly do applicants find out if they get in to Vanderbilt? Will they be directed to myappvu.com by an email when decisions are posted, do they just have to keep logging in hoping the status changes or will they receive word through the USPS? My child applied ED1 and was told she’d hear by Dec 15th, but sounds like it may be earlier and we’re unclear how she’ll receive the decision.

@UMParent2015 this is how applicants checked their admission decisions last year: “As of 5:30 p.m. Central Time on Friday, December 11, Early Decision I applicants can log into the MyAppVU portal to access admissions decisions. In addition, we recently emailed each EDI applicant with a personalized URL which will lead you directly to your admissions decision.”

She will receive an email that the decision has been made and it will direct her to myappvu

@cali14379 and @littlemiss126 So does that mean the email directing applicants to MyAppVU on a specific date and time came a day or so prior to when decisions were posted? Was the personalized URL made accessible at the same time decisions were posted on MyAppVU or was one available before the other?

I assume ED and RD results happen the same way. DS15 applied RD. They announced that results would be available at a specific day and time. At that point we logged into the Vandy portal and a banner said “Congratulations!” I think the email came a bit after that. I do not remember what “a bit” was. Everyone got an email whether they got in or not.

It’s crazy to think that, by this time next week, we could know!

SO crazy!! I am super anxious about it.

Chance me please! Vanderbilt is my dream school and I applied ED1

@jpstarling ,

Your chances are quite good. Nobody with those stats has been refused by Vanderbilt from our HS in 10 years.

Just spoke to admissions office and the woman answering phones said emails will be sent out to ED1 applicants on the 15th directing them to the VU portal. When questioned if it would truly be on the 15th she said, “Yes, the 15th.”

The person answering the phone may be told to say the 15th. She probably doesn’t really know what’s happening behind the scenes. I’ve seen Vandy say a specific date in the past and then change it. Even last year, I believe they released ED1 earlier than anticipated and ED2 when they stated they would.

@SoapyMango Hope you’re right!

Last year my son received an email telling him what time to login. The site kept crashing and then he saw “Congratulations!”. The past 3 years the decisions were given early: Friday, Dec 11, 2015, Sat, Dec 13, 2014, and Sat Dec 14th, 2013. I would assume that this year the decision will be released by this coming Saturday the 10th. I hope so since my other son has applied ED1 too. It does look like Vandy likes to give decisions over the weekend as another person posted- this way the admissions office is closed :slight_smile: good luck!!!

@tokyony Thank you for explaining how the admission information comes. Do you remember if your son received the email telling him what time to login on the same day the decision was given? Or was it before the day the decision was given?

@tokyony the past 3 years decisions have been released on Friday’s. You can look up past threads here to see. So there is a good chance it could be this Friday. I hope so!!!

can someone take a look at this!!! (chance me!!)

Honors English 11 teacher - 10/10 (knows me incredibly well)
AP Human Geography teacher - 9.5/10 (was my favorite class in high school; he enjoyed me as well - knows me well)

Interview: Was with an alum of my high school! Went really well; was honestly just a conversation about why we both loved Vandy.

Will my low GPA keep me out? Or will my exemplary ECs, test scores, awards, and essays give me a chance?

This is not a chance me thread. Can we please keep this as a discussion :wink:

Woops, my bad. Saw a lot of people doing it, so though I might as well post too.

Excited for results go come out, though. Hoping for 12/9 :slight_smile:
