Waitlist 2010

well i’ve heard the last couple of years had very few people get off the waitlist, but i’m hoping they go to the waitlist this year. I contacted humec and they said to just make sure you sent in stuff, so they recognize your name when and if they go to pull people off the waitlist. But this was in mid april so she couldn’t tell if they would be going to the waitlist or not. :/

I wish Cornell was a bit more transparent with their admissions statistics, especially with regards to their individual colleges (individual college yields published early in May would make waiting a lot easier because from those numbers we can get a better picture of the kind of chance we have). It seems like everything waitlist related has been sort of kept under-wraps… admissions don’t seem to be giving any specific answers. Not even any hints. :(

I know! Is anyone else tired of refreshing their email every 5 minutes? :(

^^ I TOTALLY AM! like i really want to get in but at this point it seems kinda hopeless because so many other schools have already taken people from their waitlsits, so i feel like cornell may not :/

How do you know which school you are waitlisted at? Because my letter just said it was from Cornell University. Does that mean I was wait listed by my primary option or my secondary option? Both? Neither?

I’m getting really nervous…I’m thinking of calling them by the end of this week if I still haven’t heard anything…is that a bad idea?

^ Well, that’s a tough one. I applied to only one school. I haven’t heard anything either but I think you should call them to at least find out which school you’re waitlisted at.

marie2010, yeah just call them up and ask. You can also just email your regional admissions director and she/he will tell you.

Are there actually regional admissions reps for Cornell? I just figured the officers would just be broken down by college…

^^ Yeah I’m pretty sure. I was told by “west” regional assistant admissions director to which school I was waitlisted.

I found out who my regional admissions officer is but it didn’t list an email, the only email I’ve found is for “Engineering Admissions” in general. Should I attempt to find out her email by asking someone? or should I just continue correspondence through “engr_admissions@cornell.edu”?

I called a while ago and it’s usually that you’re waitlisted from your primary school, but i would for sure call and ask them. also i heard talking to your regional officer can’t hurt, but i’ve only corresponded with my college.

I found out it was College of Engineering. So does that mean if I get rejected from there, my secondary option doesn’t even get a chance to look at me? Oh no, I’m getting worried. Engineering is so much harder to get into, especially from the wait list!! ):

my waitlisted friend said that her dad called college of engineering. they told him that the class size was full. so the only way they may go to the waitlist is if enrolled students get off other waitlists.

So…it won’t be for a reeeal long time for me to find out. Awesome. So, does that mean I stay on the waitlist and my secondary option doesn’t get a chance to see my application? I mean, what if I would get accepted by my secondary option? I feel like this system is extremely susceptible to flaws, no?

your secondary school will never get to see your application  i’m sorry! it kinda sucks, but yah, i seriously don’t understand why we haven’t been notified yet. it’s getting slightly irritating.

wonder if there ahve been acceptees… just all of them outside the CC board circle, I mean Cornell’s waitlist doesnt seem to have many who are active on the boards–Harvard’s waitlist thread has over 1000 posts… Not that that isnt to be expected or anything but that could be why everything is so quiet here…

yah, i think it’s kinda odd that there aren’t that many people on CC waiting for cornell but i guess most people aren’t really waiting for cornell. Kinda sad I guess.

hey this is a semirandom question but i emailed my college (humec) today and i didn’t get a reply. have you guys gotten replies after emailing your college?

yes, same day if I email in the morning, next business day if I email in the afternoon.

I haven’t tried emailing, though I might call them today.
