someone just posted on facebook that they are off Bowdoin’s waiting list so there should be hope for any potential Polar Bears out there

nikkiaddo21: My friend got an offer on Friday (first rounds) off the BU wait list. I myself am wait listed @ Lehigh (called the dean of admissions; they are significantly over accepted by 100+ students), Wake Forest, University of Richmond (started making calls Friday (first rounds), and Boston College. Anyone hear anything about any of the above?

Good luck to all! (fingers crossed!)

wake forest is taking off of the waiting list, no one knows about tufts. Where are you headed ^

I know someone from my school who got off BC’s waitlist yesterday!

soulmates: how was your friend notified?

so Boston College said they cant give out info over the phone about the waitlist and they do not encourage additional rec letters to be sent. do you think they would care if i sent a teacher rec anyway? and i also wanted to send an essay i wrote for another app last fall because Ive realized my common app essay wasnt good at all and the one I want to send them is much better, what do you think?

oh and then do you think they would care if i called anyway or sent them a letter asking how i can get in touch with an admissions rep? i really just want to talk to someone and get some more info.

NicolieMarie: I talked to my admissions counselor myself b/c I was up in the area on a choir trip and she said DO NOT send anything additionally: you’ve done all you can at this point.

Goldberg2: I am headed to Bentley in Waltham, Massachusetts

Soulmates: Which school in BC did they get accepted to (Arts&Sciences, Education, Nursing, Business)

We haven’t updated the list for a few pages so here it is again. I moved Bowdoin from inactive to active per post #841 above & added BC. Good luck. THis is just as bad as waiting for the first round…or worse because you don’t know when it will finally be over…

I was accepted off the University of Richmond’s waitlist on April 30th so there wait list is definitely active. I am still waiting to hear from Wake? Does anyone know how many Wake plans to take off the waitlist?

i have noticed you are not including Wesleyan University in CT on your list. I believe their waitlist is active. Good luck!

Yale has had activity, a good friend of mine was taken off the waitlist over the weekend.

Some thoughts about the schools with ‘inactive wait-lists’

In the case of Dartmouth, what if they lose a large number to HYP and some of its peer schools (Duke, Penn, etc)? Would this mean that Dartmouth could suddenly decide to use the waitlist?

This is almost comical.
So many schools took the risk of having these ‘scary low acceptance rates’ and admissions staffs throughout the country are now working overtime! :D

I predicted early on that yield was going to plummet for so many top schools due to the loss of early admissions of Harvard and Princeton.
Some like Duke and Columbia are preparing early by accepting a large number off the waitlist, who knows? Maybe Duke will have another 1700+ person class, hopefully RLHS solves their problems by then.. we would be able to boast about having a ‘higher yield than last year’. You know what, it may not be a bad strategy.

Some like UVA can survive because it is an elite state school, if I lived in Virginia, I would have likely gone to UVA myself.

sailpgd: Did you accept your place @ Richmond/ are you still waiting for Wake?

I sent in a deposit to Richmond but am still hoping to get into Wake.

oldtimeyfan:
" If he gets lucky with the w/l, maybe you’ll get lucky with Penn."
How self centered is that! jk jk
…I hope we both get lucky.

Vassar’s waitlist is active.

did you get in?

How do you know about Vassar’s waitlist being active?

I remember that when i sent in my waitlist confirmation for Wake, I told them to notify me by June 30. the last date was August. I think there were four options, one in mid-may, and the other in early june. So, i am agreeing and guessing that they are making there first round for the May date.

Update from Cornell

*Thank you for your continued interest in Cornell University. Since you have elected to remain on our waiting list, I am writing to provide you with an update.

As of today, we have made a limited number of offers of admission from the waiting list for our School of Hotel Administration. Although there is still a possibility that we may extend offers of admission for Cornell’s other colleges and schools, we are not prepared to do so at this time. We should have another update for you during the week of May 26, or you may hear from us sooner if we are able to extend an offer of admission to you.

With best regards,
