i was originally planning on wellesley, but i like amherst better. what about you?

oh caltech o.O

and plus if i did get off, I would have to think about it because caltech is caltech.

any thoughts? haha

ooooo that's tough. it would depend on what you want to study. i personally really like amherst's open curriculum. where do you live? b/c these two schools are on opposite ends of the country.

Did they say anything about how many students will be taken off?

facepalm

Caltech and Amherst couldn't be two more different schools >_>

no they did not say how many students will be taken off.

I'm praying for a call tomorrow, especially after AP Eng Lit...

Ohhh cross my fingers really really tightly

Of course, I won't be able to go unless they give me enough finaid. But I want snow! Although I suppose wearing shorts all year round is cool too. Hum.

haha tako, are you sure you want snow? there's A LOT of snow here. but i guess being a new england weather victim makes it hard to wrap my head around people who are sick of sunshine.

I'm hardly sick of sunshine - I simply <3 snow! And I've lived in Canada for 11 years, so I know what it's like shovelling your driveway and trudging through it walking to school. Yet totally worth it, imo although EVERYBODY else disagrees with me, haha :D

I am kind of torn, though. It's snow/really cold weather vs. sunshine/really warm weather at Rice. I'd rather wear shorts than pants, but I really really really want to play in the snow again. Then again, I might not even make it off Amherst's waitlist, so perhaps I won't even have to make that decision.

ya I know caltech and amherst are just at opposite poles, but hey guess those are my options and gotta take what I can get ;)

do you guys know Amherst students' acceptance rate into professional schools? particularly med school?

Congrats Emily! Are you an international? I feel absolutely nervous right now...I wonder if they will even bother to take an international who asks for fin.aid seeing that there are some who has been accepted but "not having their need met".

emily814! did you do anything special to get the ad com notice you? active calling or letter writing?

BellaD - no i'm not an international, i'm from good 'ol massachusetts.

wannabeivy0815 - i sent in some additional letters of rec and i handwrote a letter of continued interest. i don't know if they made a difference. this year is just so weird!

good luck to everybody!

i am international btw ;)

@emily-Hey i did those too but they did not reply me so I guess its about replacing niche area students they lost to Ivies or something.

@tealover-Omg, which part of the world are you? I am from the South East Asia region. Have you called them back? Did you do anything more than Emily?

I think it is like 99% acceptance to med school for students with a GPA above 3.1.

haha I am chinese. I live in california though, but I am still considered as international

ya I called them back and I am off the waitlist. they gave me 7 days to decide

emily/OR other accepted students, how did you see your financial aid? They told me some online site, but I can't figure it out, I keep getting error :(

i can't figure out the online thing either! i guess i'll just wait for the mail.

I'm chinese too. tealover - why are you considered international?
