oh ya and BellaD, sorry I didn't read the 2nd part of your question before

along with my card, I sent in a letter expressing my interest in amherst and then since application time, I won a lot of awards including Intel STS semifinalist. I think that <-- got me in

Me too, fingers crossed.
But honestly, if you're from the East Coast I think you have a better shot of getting in. They probably passed up a ton of great candidates from in the name of geographical diversity. Sucks to be from Washington! Whatever I'll stop *****in and start crossing my fingers :)

Haha I checked the finaid thing for me (just for fun...) and it's not working for me either - good sign?! :O lol. I can't go to sleep because I'm too scared :( I really hope they notify tomorrow, and tell the rest of us that they don't want us so I can crush that painful smidgeon of hope.

dang it...
so is this what it'll look like?

-25ish people get taken off waitlist this weekendish
-if a few of the 25 people say "no thanks"
admisson office goes to other kids on the waitlist

-repeat x however many times needed until june or even July pending on people accepting offer

btw, harvard is taking off 150 people from the waitlist? Yale is taking off 40? is this INSANE or what?

Truthfully speaking, I believe kwu is the one who most deserved to get off the waitlist. Reading your posts, I felt you are the one most eager to go to Amherst. Hopefully I'll meet you come August. Good luck!!!

I checked my email today, and discovered that they'd sent me an email on the 8th of May. They'd also sent me another email asking if I was still interested in Amherst on the 7th, and I'd replied in the affirmative.

btw, I'm an international. So that explains the emails.
