Yep. And I live in SoCal.

So the mail came today

Yes, surprisingly. I was thinking it would be mid-April, unless its just a California thing.

No word in Northern California.

Just got rejected. They had a class of 375 (includes ED) with over 5400 applicants. Doesnt matter to me, I was going to UCLA anyway.

craaaaaaaaaaaap. cause i definitely just got rejected from williams and princeton today, so I REALLY want to get into pomona, which has always been my first choice. Im getting really nervous....

stats anyone?

my stats:
SAT: 2100
SAT II: 800 math IIc, 800 latin, 720 USH, 680 physics
GPA: 3.96 UW
APs: euro 4, spanish 5, ush 5, calc 5.
ECs: 4 years of swimming, tennis, tons of musical theatre, debate, jcl (latin club) tutoring, etc.
i REALLY want to go to pomona!!

yeah i just got waitlisted at pomona... and it was my top choice. i couldn't see myself anywhere else...

stats:
2250
700 ush, 740 2c
3.59/4.4
11 aps
lots of political ecs

Namaste, where di you get those numbers? Those are crazy, thats a seven percent acceptance rate. Woah

I think that they that accepted more than 375 because Pomona obviously doesn't have a 100% yield, so they probably accepted somewhere around 950 or so if they are counting on a yield of around 40%. If they did accept 950, the acceptance rate would be about 17.5%. That felt like an SAT problem.

gah, that's lower than Duke's. ::gives up hope::.

Yea that makes more sense. I figured they accepted 375. However, your explanation makes it all more clear

does anyone have statistics for the number of applicants pomona takes off the waitlist? i'm definitely staying on it

Sorry I don't know the stats for the Pomona waitlist, but considering the fact that there was an increase in apps to practically every school in the country and still a similar number of students applying college, I'm thinking that the waitlist is going to get used quite a bit due to lower yields. Also, the only person I know at Pomona got off the waitlist on June 28th of last year, so ya never know.

i got those numbers from the letter. and you're probably right about them accepting around 900, although i think it may even be less. wouldnt more than 40% end up matricularting at pomona

Apparently only 40% ended up matriculating last year so I doubt that'll change drastically.

Just got my letter today. Waitlisted...

i was waitlisted too... and pomona was my first choice.
i don't know whether to stay on the list... how does the process work? my second choice is scripps... should i accept their offer? what happens if pomona then took me off the list?
i'm also considering willamette university and ucla... anyone have any thoughts for a psych major? thanx!

You can accept Scripps offer and still stay on the waitlist for Pomona. You would forfeit your deposit at Scripps if you are taken off the waitlist, but it's allowed.
Scripps is a beautiful school. If you love the consortium, you will probably love Scripps, and you can take courses at any of the colleges. There's really no downside to staying on waitlists, unless you are actually counting on getting in and it keeps you from "committing" in your mind to the school you enroll in.
If I were you I'd stay on the waitlist, choose between UCLA and Scripps, and
just assume you will be attending whichever one you choose. Chances are, if Pomona does offer you a spot later, you'll be so happy where you're going, that you'll turn it down. :)
Two great schools, Scripps and UCLA. Congratulations!
