What's the *worst college in the nation?

have you guys heard of the sparknotes univeristy?

i forgot what the real name is.

but what if it's academically? which college/university would be the worst?

"I only saw one minority throughout the whole video. I think he was quite possibly the only minority at the school."

And until recently he was completely UNDATE-ABLE! (sorry had to go for the Seinfeld moment there.)

I heard of Finlandia University, Upper Michicagn. Its not a bad school, I think its the only school in the country that offers a degree a BA in Finnish.

Have you guys ever heard of Pensecola Christian college? Its a non accredited Christian that makes guys and girls walk on different colored sidewalks, ride in different elevators, etc. If one goes to a POG-13 or R movie without their parent, they recive 75 demerits--150 demerits lead to expulsion. Students aren't only to have cell phone sthat do anything other than just receive phone signals, and aren't allowe dto have computers that don't have a uniform strict internet filter on them. Not only do the NAZIs regulate behavior, but dissident views WITHIN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH are not even encouraged. Public acknowledgement that you're a Calvinist can get you into trouble.

I go to a private baptist school, but this is beyond ridiculous. They came to speak at my school's chapel, and when we got back to class, the teachers mocked the speaker and told us to stay as far away from that facist institution as possible.

My pastor's son went to Pensacola. One of their rules is that you can't dye your hair. Well, this guy's facial hair was a brownish-reddish, and his hair was a very light brown. Because, as a Christian, one is to avoid "even the appearance of sin," he had to dye his head hair dark brown, to match his stubble, I guess. So, it's better to "sin" than to appear to sin?

Also, my youth pastor went there, and evidently, even though students could only group date, the college had spy-people who would follow PCC students into movie theaters, to make sure there was no, ah, physical contact.

What gets me is how girls have to wear skirts all the time, and no jeans allowed for either sex. Like Jesus gives a flip! For goodness sake. They didn't even have denim way back when.

And there are many good Christian schools. Wheaton, outside of Chicago, is supposed to be amazing for academics, though I've heard that many women just go for the infamous MRS degree. ;-) Liberty University beat Harvard at debate last year, if I remember correctly, and Messiah just put in a really expensive science building or something like that. (Going by memory. No one write me with, "Decietful, lying snake! It was a math building, you ignorant fool!") Just wanted to say, there are good Christian colleges.

I have a friend going to PCC next year. It kills me, because his potential is going to be wasted. I wish he'd get a part time job and go to a community college for a couple years, but his family would end up dropping contact with him likely if he did that.

wow i looked at bob jones, and they can't wear abercrombie or hollister. pretty strict.

I find it hilarious people like these exist. This is what happens when you have way too much time on your hands plus get scared of the real world. So you end up spending way too much time, effort, capital to build these institutions which would love to return the earth back to the middle ages. I though America was supposed to be progressive! It's patent grants are falling, evolution is NOT taught in schools, and there is being steps backwards to ensure that the future remains dark.

There is a key reason why the middle ages were called the "dark ages" folks.

Yes. They were called the Dark Ages because of the lack of written records and critically popular Latin literature during the time period. (Sorry, you've struck on one of the biggest pet peeves of Medieval Studies majors.)

PCC is pretty scary but I think BJU tops them all. I know a girl who got expelled from there because she went to a movie. I also know a lady who is forcing her daughter to apply to BJU.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who was considering or had attended Bob Jones, Pensacola Christian, Oral Roberts, or any of the other fundamentalist Protestant schools. I'm from Connecticut, so most people who go to religious colleges here pick Catholic ones.

Am I the only one that finds it slightly ironic that BJU is so over the top conservative (or should I say extremist), but its name is BJ U. Almost gives it a false identity to some college kids you might say.

No, you're not. At least one person makes that comment at just about every thread where BJU is discussed, and they all think they're the first. ;)

dodgerblue, I understand the signifance of its name being BJU.

I visited both colleges (PCC and BJU) for 2 days, and I believe that they're the best colleges for the students that want to go there. BJU is not accredited (sp), at least not a real one, but it doesn't need to be. Most of the people on this board are going to have regular jobs, and live normal lives. People going to these schools aren't going there to live these lives. Most of the people going there are getting great preaching skills, learning more about God, and learning to become a pastor. I went to a high school almost as strict as PCC. And I loved it. For these kids, having to walk on different sidewalks, not being able to really date, is so unnecessary, that they don't care. I don't know why all of you mock that, as nearly all of the students that go there love the college. I had 2 choices of where to go to college - Campbell University, and BJU. I chose Campbell because having my career in the ministry wasn't for me. That's why these kids decide to go to a school with such strict rules. It's because they love the Christian education that they get, and I would say that 90% of the students that go to PCC and BJU would turn down a full ride to ANY Ivy League school. These are great places to learn more about God, and if you don't understand it, either grab a bible and learn, or go to your Ivy League school, have a successful (yet meaningless) life, and stand before God after you die and wonder if these places really weren't all that bad after all.

"He will continue to be bitter after this year also." joev

Well it's tough going up against the best players money can buy every year :P

Go Blue!

Elitism. I concur.

Elitism, you sound almost as brainwashed as some of the people that go to those schools. I can't stand these people that are so brainwashed that everyone else who doesn't have the same lifestyle as them "must be going to hell." I'd rather stand before God and know I treated everyone equally rather than only those who observe my faith. But whatever floats your boat.

a product of the public school system calling me brainwashed.....

the people that go to these schools are not brainwashed. They believe in God to guide them to the best life for them, what they call "God's will". If you don't understand this or choose not to live this way, then fine, most people don't. But the kids at PCC and BJU made the right choice for them, and they certainly aren't in the worst school in the US.
