What's the *worst college in the nation?

Hmmm, actually, Muslims do consider Christians dhimmi, or peoples of the book. They just believe that Jesus was one of many prophets, and that Muhammad was the last and greatest of the prophets. So Judaism is God 1.0, Christianity is God 2.0, and Islam is God 3.0.

Considering that the Mormons also believe in in Brigham Young as another prophet, if I'm not mistaken, then your analogy is much more on the mark than you would think.

LOL, z2thay, you have a lot to learn about religion! I'll leave it there.

megalomaniac, incubus bud, um....you haven't really studied about the LDS religion much have you? By the looks of your post above, you have some missing links in the facts about said religion.

I dont support Bob Jones in any way. However, I have to say that we should not demean them for their beliefs. If we are so open minded, why are we not open minded to their way of doing things. If they so choose to live life as they do, let them. But dont make fun of them or demean the education they get. I can list a whole bunch of schools worse than that. Start with the schools that advertise in NYC's subways. However, we should also not make fun of those schools, because not all people are able to attend four year colleges, or even accredited two year colleges. For some people, means only provide an education at what we call "the worst college in the nation"

Also, Mormons are NOT Christian. I would know, I've studied their comparative beliefs. I'm Catholic though. Not Mormon.

mormons are of the devil!

saying it like adam sandler's mom in Waterboy

red06, your knowledge about Mormons NOT being Christians is very debatable, but is something that should be saved for a different chat board, or at least a different thread.

Lol, nope, I really haven't. I'm going off what I remember from one Newsweek article I read a long time ago. But shush! z2thay doesn't know enough to be able to tell anyway.

Whoa thats weird....right after i posted up there^^^, two mormons stopped by my house and wanted to tell me about the mormon bible. I told them i was busy on the phone, and they left. Pretty trippy.

I thought that Mormons are considered Christians. Christian means a follower/believer of Christ. If the mormons believe in what Christ did and who he was then wouldn't that mean that they are Christian. I consider myself a Christian, but I do not belong to a certain denomination of the Christian church. I see the mormon church as a sect of Christianity that broke off from Protestantism. There are a whole bunch of sects of Christianity and Mormonism is one of them.

Here is what wikipedia says: Mormonism is a religion, movement, ideology and subculture originating in the early 1800s as a product of the Latter Day Saint movement led principally by Joseph Smith, Jr. It is usually described as a branch of Christianity, which encompasses numerous religious denominations, but Mormonism itself did not stem from the Reformation movement, and is generally understood as much more than a religion. Not easily categorized, Mormonism has been described at various times and in various contexts as "a sect, a mystery cult, a new religion, a church, a people, a nation, or an American subculture" (Ahlstrom 1972, p. 508).

to determine whether Mormonism is Christian or not, go to www.lds.org, and see if they believe in Jesus to be the Son of God, and our "Savior" as the Bible says He is, and if they do, then I think it's safe to say that mormonism is a *Christ*ian belief system.

z2thay, what is with the name calling? Honestly, how old are you? Why are you even on this forum if all you are going to do is completely ignore what people tell you even though you have no clue what you are talking about. I did not say anything trying to offend you or even in reference to you, yet you chose to call me a name for absolutely no reason. Your name calling contributes nothing to your replies so why do you even bother. Your post didn't even make any sort of contribution at all to this discussion.

Here is what the lds website says:
Question:
Are you Christians?

Answer:
Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said:

"We are Christians in a very real sense and that is coming to be more and more widely recognized. Once upon a time people everywhere said we are not Christians. They have come to recognize that we are, and that we have a very vital and dynamic religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ."

"We, of course, accept Jesus Christ as our Leader, our King, our Savior...the dominant figure in the history of the world, the only perfect Man who ever walked the earth, the living Son of the living God. He is our Savior and our Redeemer through whose atoning sacrifice has come the opportunity of eternal life."

"Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pray and worship in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the center of our faith and the head of our Church. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ and witnesses of His divinity, His life, and His Atonement."

Please do not continue to call people names. Just because you are behind a computer and no one can find out who you are, that does not give you the right to be a jerk to strangers on a forum where people are supposed to be helping each other.

But all the REAL christians will tell you that you have to be Born Again. So are there any REAL christians here to clear that up? Thanks.

no one has mentioned Patrick Henry! They're a conservative christian college along the lines of BJU, also non accredited for teaching that the world was created in literally seven days. Their goal is to educate Christian politicians, and send the same amount of interns to the white house at graduation as Georgetown. There was a story about them in the New Yorker a while ago. Thinking about such places makes me shudder.

I don't think it is fair, IlliniJBravoEcho, to try to specify that "REAL" christians are those that say you have to be born again. I consider myself born-again (as in I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and if I accept him then I will be a new creation), but I wouldn't say that there are fake Christians. "Born Again" Christians are another sect of Christianity just like mormonism, whether you believe that mormons are going to go to heaven is a different story and you shouldn't call them fake Christians just because you do not believe in what they believe. The mormons could just as easily say that you are a "fake" christian because you don't believe what they believe, because they believe that they are the "REAL" christians here and anyone else who believes different is fake.

If my definition of Born Again christianity is wrong, please clarify for me Illini.

Everyone knows Catholicism is the REAL religion lol. Protestantism is just like 'make your own religion out of christianity' day. There are so many sects, that every minister just makes up all the crazy rules they want!

You can't really say that... the reason why there was a whole Protestant Revolution was because Johann Tetzel and other peeps thought that the religion they were following had flaws- that it wasn't the real way to follow God's way. (props to AP euro) I'm not saying I'm going to judge one religion over the other, but I am saying that it all depends on you ask, and no person has authority to say their religion is the "real" religion, not even you.

Shaw University

Yea seriously this religion debate is boring, monotmous and irrelevant so shut up please and thank you. Honestly.

i think the worst type of college is the spartan type ones. Religious if u have the faith u'll survive but spartan man that's for like training professional warriors. physically and mentally draining + abstinence. I don't think anyone would be happy in that type of environemnt.
