Has anyone actually asked the school officials this? I know that it is rolling admissions and that the website says that you will hear in about 3 weeks after they have your completed application, but is there a beginning date? The common data set for 2006 said that they begin notifying applicants on Oct. 1. Is this still the notification start?

We watched my S's myUCF page for updates. UCF had been missing his H.S. transcript, and the day after the university received it, he was offered admission. The whole thing was less than a couple of weeks, I think.

zebes

What is the earliest date that anyone would hear though? Has anyone been accepted yet for summer/fall 2008?

I knew by the end of September last year. As soon as they got my transcript they showed me as accepted.

If you are highly qualified, they will tell you right away, a few weeks after the paperwork is in, even within August. (this was the experience in 2006)

My son got his acceptance fast. Really fast. If you are well above the middle 50% in grades and test scores, you can hear pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, D is not above the 50%tiles...so she (and I) are anxiously awaiting her decision. UCF is one of her top choices at this point.

There was a young man at our high school (I teach) who didn't get his acceptance, but he kept working through the guidance counselor to augment his application somehow. I'd make sure that D does a little more prep and retakes the SAT in October. A lot of students just go in cold and the SAT is definitely a test that you can prep for and raise the numbers. Also, getting a couple more letters of recommendation from senior year teachers and getting great grades this semester in case she is still waiting to hear in Jan could make the difference. There's a lot of senioritis out there, and NOT having it can help her chances.

Thanks, but no thanks. D has already maxed out on prep classes and private SAT tutors. If she gets deferred from UCF then we will consider a four try at the SAT's. She does not have senioritis yet and is working on all cylinders to have a good year (since seniors who have A averages do not have to take finals). Hopefully, she will hear from UCF early with an acceptance and not a deferral. If she dosen't hear by Oct 1, she will ask her GC to check on things.

I live in South Florida, and none in my school has heard from UCF so far. The rumors kids are saying is that they don't start notifying this year until October, but I don't know how truthful that statement is.

Jetsx13 - thanks for the response...that is really what i was wondering (if anyone had heard yet).

They can come back very quickly. Watch the web status for decisions and to make sure that your file is complete. With a lower volume of applications in the early fall and the desire to not allow a backlog to build-up the commitee can meet very frequently and get decisions out quickly. I think 1-2 weeks after the file is complete is the usual time frame. I had heard but I'm not positive that on above average students to the UCF profile that their could be some empowerment for the Admission officer to make the decision on their own.

D's file has been complete since August 28th, so maybe her decision is just around the corner...

I'll be thinking good thoughts. We get a break this year from the college admission thing. Next year, with DS#3, will be our last to dance that dance. Thank goodness. It is SO stressful.

Good luck!

HOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

D got into UCF today!!!!! She is upstairs, shreiking with joy and speed-dialing all her friends right now. We logged onto her status page today about 4:30 pm and low and behold:

Congratulations! You have been offered admission to UCF for the Summer 2008 term.

We are all so happy right now.

Congratulations! It is such a relief!
