When'd you get your license?

My parents probably wont let me get mine until the end of senior year if not later. Kinda ticked...

When will/did you guys get your license? (driving)

I got mine the morning of my 16th Birthday.

I didn't get mine until a month before I turned 18. I just wasn't ready to drive yet. I still don't like driving....

24 days!!!!!

I failed my driving test twice, so I got mine about nine months after I got my permit, when I was 16 and 3/4 (in Pennsylvania you have to wait six months after getting your permit to get your license--though beginning with those born in 1990 it'll be one year-- and you have to be 16 to get your permit). I had just finished my junior year of high school the week before. Now I only drive at home; I don't have a car at school.

I was 15 and a half. In ND you can get a permit at 14 and a license six months after you get your permit. One kid in my class drove to school the entire second semester of eighth grade.

16.
I didn't get a car until a little before my 17th birthday. I inherited my dad's Cavalier when he bought a new car. I still have it. I love my cavie, but I hate paying for gas.

im also in PA - but when I got my license you only had to have your permit for a month. I got it when i was 16. and I bought my first car when I was 17.. and my second car when i was 19.. and my third car when I was 21.

I got my license just before I went away to college (around 19), just so I'd have a good ID for cashing checks, etc. It turns out that I rarely drove until I was done with 6 years of school & returned to start my career anyway. It was handy to have a license in college when we went on long trips & they wanted me to relieve the main driver from time to time. Most of the time, I was happy being a passenger & let a boyfriend or other buddy drive.

Only my younger brothers had access to cars when they were in grad school, the rest of us found other means of getting around. My younger brother had a car when he was in law school & my other younger brother didn't get a car until he was actually doing his internship & residency in SF.

In my country there's no permit until you hit 17, and no license until 18....so I'll have to wait one more year for my license...it sucks to be pedestrian lol

I got my temps in December of 1992 and my license January of 1993.

I got Washington Driver License July 2004. I was 19 at the time. I got a permit a couple of months before that (not sure when, but it was sometime close to the end of 2003, and I was still living in Virginia).

I could have when I was 16, but I waited until I was 18, both because I didn't have access to a car, and because I didn't want to deal with all the "junior license" no passenger rules, etc.

I got mine a month and a half after I turned 16. No permit required here in NH, but if you get it under age 18 you are required to take drivers ed (plus that's the smart thing to do anyway, and it gives you lower insurance rates). I finished drivers' ed December 30, 2002 and went straight to the DMV but the line was so long that I only got to take my written. Took the road test the next day, right after an ice storm.

I failed my first test, so I was 16.25 or so.

I probably won't get mine until I'm well into college for two reasons mainly:

a. I'm not in America, nor will I be until I graduate from high school

b. "Driving in Shanghai is fun! It's like bumber cars except with real cars!" --adult aquaintance

-_-;;;

I got my permit in mid-April of last year, and my license the on the first of December. Since I'm from NJ, though, it's still only a provisional license until December 1 of this year. But since I'm a college first-year without a car, I only use my license for ID, and even then I only use it rarely.

fendergirl: Actually technically in PA before the 6 mth rule, you didn't have to wait a full month. You could schedule your driving exam the moment you received your permanent permit in the mail (which yes, normally took a month). With that said, I got mine 2 mths after my 16th bday (took a month to get a freaking appointment in Lancaster...), got the permit on my 16th bday.

ophiolite - are you from lancaster?

Still haven't gotten mine, I am going to be 17 in December, thats when I get it... I'm a Senior.
