Raises Hand Of course I am only a freshman and prom is next week, but I'm not going =] Movie night!

I've never gone to a high school dance yet, but I will go to prom. IMHO, didn't miss out on too much.

hemingwayisdead: I WENT TO THAT RALLY TOO!! :D Obama was a really good speaker, I have to say.

I skipped on homecoming this (junior) year to go to Medieval Times with my friends. We're organizing a sushifest at my friend's house instead of junior prom.

I went to hc frosh and soph. years though.

well, chances are i'm going to be in my 3rd professional performance (yaaaaaay!) on the night of my prom. small price to pay for your passion!

Might go next year. Was invited freshman year, but declined.

As for parties...

Heh. Better not to say. :D

Nope...I transferred to a new school in January, so I don't have any friends...

so I haven't been to any dances yet, and not planning on going to prom. lol

parties? never been invited to any :P plus I know my parents would never let me go even if I was. lol

Hemingway, don't we have some dance on a boat in Boston harbor that we have at orientation?

Wanna go?

hemingway, how did you become aqainted with these protests and such that you are/were involved in? just word of mouth? is there a favorite website that lists some (the ones i look up online all the time never seem to end up working/taking place)

The Darfur rally I mentioned was a really big one (Elie Wiesel, George Clooney, Barack Obama, Al Sharpton all spoke), so I just knew of that from the newd/word of mouth. Any big "march on Washington" protests coming up you'd probably hear about on the news. But I also get very regular emails from STAND, Oxfam, and Amnesty International because I'm involved with all three, and I get updates on various vigils, protests throughout the world on those. Amnesty is a BIG one and almost always has things going on.

Local universities might organize their own protests too. I live 15 miles from Northern Illinois University, and every Friday night they protest on the Lincoln Highway. Unfortunately I work Friday nights!

Oh, and Just_Browsing...I don't think I've heard about that. But of course! :)

I haven't gone to anyone of them and I never plan on going :)

I think I have been to one party since 8th grade, after that I just thought "I am wasting my time here" -> all they do in parties is gossip.

I haven't gone to any.
I've been asked, but I'm not interested.

Aww, prom is so much fun! Plus it's part of the quintessential high school experience :-)

meh, I don't feel like spending the money

This thread makes me cry for the people on this site...

Does that imply none? Or does it imply too many? ;)

As in, we're too unsocial? :p

==
Oh, and do your parents host/go to parties? Grown-up parties are so boring. They just do nothing but dine and talk about nothing interesting/important. I would never want to go to one of those...

Oh yeah, if you mean, parties as a result of my parents (and characteristically, their azn friends), then I've been to more. I tried to study through them, but ultimately failed and ended up seeking attention. =P Though in the past I'd actually play. Now I'm growing old. =(

But yeah, no parties for the rest of my life, I think...

No because there haven't been any as of yet. (10th gr.) But I was asked to a nonexistent prom two days ago and rejected the asker. It was a golden moment.

At my school, they only hold senior prom, but in general, no. I went to one dance in middle school, the very first dance in 6th grade. After that, I knew it was just a waste of time. I might miss out on some drama, but I don't care about that stuff anyway.

I've pretty much resolved to skip my senior prom.

I haven't missed a dance yet. This year's homecoming and last year's prom sucked, but all the other homecoming dances I went to were tons of fun. This year's prom should be amazing too!

Not too many...just a few fun ones. ;)

i have gone to one prom at 8 grade and to some parties in bogota and barranquilla after that.
