finally. they just notified us at school today. i don't know what the wait was about. we had 9 semifinalists at our school but i don't know yet if everyone made it to finalist. i'm just relieved to finally know. good luck to everyone still waiting to hear the good news!

got it, thank god.
Florida is now an option

Here are the dates I have been given by NMSQT staff (across two different phone calls):

2/3 - Notifications mailed to traditional schools
2/8 - Notifications mailed to HOMEschool principals (e.g., parent of homeschooler)
2/10 - Notifications mailed to homeschoolers (students)

Was told that b/c we homeschool, we would receive TWO notifications - one as principal, and one as student.

sd

Our school just announced it today. DS is a finalist! Not that we were really worried. :-)

I finally got the finalist letter in the mail today! yay :)

My school still hasn't told us anything . . . guess that's what happens when you go to a large public high school that has almost 5000 kids for four grade levels.

My school didn't tell me anything either. I found out I'd made it in the mail today.

Congrats to your DS, musicmom! :-)

I am also happy to report that my DD received her letter as finalist today (2/10) in the mail.

The letter (dated 2/8) mentions that a certificate of merit "has been sent to your principal," but so far, I have not received it.

I'm not too concerned, since at least my DD has her letter. If the certificate has not arrived by early next week, I'll probably give NMSQT a call to check on it.

I've been so busy lately that I completely forgot notifications went out in February! So it was definately a nice surprise to read the mail today and see that I was a finalist (didn't really ever think I wasn't though - they only knock out 1000 semifinalists). It sure did take a long time to mail the letters though if they sent them out on the third. I wonder when my school's gonna say anything though. They still haven't called anyone down or talked to the finalists about it. Must be busy with other stuff.

DD got her NMF letter this afternoon as well. Her AP-English teacher told her earlier in the week that she and the rest of the SF made Finalist, so she wasn't too stressed. School hasn't said one word though...odd.

We got a letter today too for our S...no word from the school though...It's probably sitting on someone's desk somewhere.

I swear, Oklahoma is so slow. Still haven't received the home letter as of 2/10. :</p>

I haven't either in Ohio (the home letter)

Isn't the home letter sent out on the 8th?

Six out of the seven people in my school advanced to finalists. This is our highest total ever, and as a public school with only 180 kids in our grade our councelors seemed relatively happy.

I was relieved, as I can now feel comfortable attending Ohio State if my plans to go to ivy leagues fall through (i.e. rejection).

Daughter got her letter today. She asked her counselor yesterday, who didn't know, but yesterday I found a press release from the school announcing the finalists.

I got mine yesterday but I still have an unanswered question - when's the latest date you can tell them your first choice school? the reason is because i want to know where i'm going so i could potentially use the scholarship money at that school.

got mine today! Congrats to everyone who is a finalist :)

I just got a letter from ASU about getting a full ride for being a finalist, and am considering applying since none of my other schools offer anything for merit finalists.

^^look at UF and Oklahoma, both offer full rides for finalists, I plan on attending UF in the fall.

racket---just so you know, many state schools beside ASU offer full rides for NMF's. (Oklahoma is giving me $75k)

you probably already know this, but just wanted to point that out.

Daughter's letter just came today. Nothing from her school, though.

Got my letter today. I have a question though - I've been offered scholarships from colleges already, but what if I receive a corporate scholarship? The rules say that I can't get two kinds, so does that mean the college will retract their scholarship offer? Or would they still offer me money, just because I am a NMF? They do like to brag about that, after all :p
