Hey, guys, how important are SAT scores for sophomore transfers.

Thank you Michael, waiting does suck, hope you get in to NYU!

Iansown, I assume you're also applying for spring transfer as a first semester sophomore (currently)? If so, I think test scores matter as such (depending on when you apply to transfer):

1st Semester Freshman: weighted fairly heavily
2nd Semester Sophomore: not weighted very heavily

I think applying as a first semester sophomore would be somewhere in between (and I would take into account the emphasis each school within Cornell places on test scores).

~ Not sure if this was posted before, but thought it should act as a good luck charm! ~

z...

I plan to be a Government major, if I have the luck to get in. lol

gaah! That video was sooo awsome!!
man, I want to be there so bad, :)

Travelbook: Just because you consistently say that you're going to get rejected, I have a feeling you are going to get accepted. It's sort of like "anti-jinxing".

Iansown: I don't think SAT scores will make/break you. A lot of people that apply don't have good high school grades and/or SAT scores. At this point, I would say the most important factors are your college GPA, essays, Recs and ECs. If you have a good college GPA, essays, Recs and ECs, then bad high school stats can be overlooked.

I hope we hear this week!

haha, zakaquel, if you're right I'll buy you chocolate! lol!

i don't mean to constantly say that, but I'm just being realistic, when it comes to grades I'm pretty avarage, i.e. high school gpa....ok, I don't remember but something like a 3.5? college gpa: 3.2ish, 'cos I am a slacker. So when I say they'll prolly reject me, one, I mean it, and two, it's sort of like a defense mechanism, it helps me to not start dreaming away :p

spartan, I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllyyyy hope we start to hear this week too

Seriously? Chocolate? lol. What am I, a 7-year-old boy or a 16-year-old girl? If you buy me chocolate, make sure it's the good kind. Actually forget it, just send me a basketball or something.

(JK)

Don't be discouraged by having a seemingly low GPA. I think a lot of people overrate just how good a GPA you need. There are many other factors. I know two people who were admitted previously with HS GPAs under 3 and a college GPA around 3.2-3.4 from big, pretty reputable state schools. I think a 3.2 can be more competitive than you think, all factors considered.

hmm, I think you're probably right armageddon. I am taking classes at Amherst and Smith College which I think are more rigorous than UMass (my school). But yeah, we'll see I guess

and zakaqel....I only said chocolate cos I thought everyone liked chocolate....lol...guess not :p

It's almost December...

Does anyone have an instinct that they're either going to be accepted or rejected? I'm an NYU student applying to Binghamton and Cornell (HumEc PAM) for Fall '09 transfer, and I have a very strong instinct I'll end up staying at NYU, don't know why.

I remember a year ago, visiting NYU and not even liking it that much, but I had a strong instinct I'd end up here, and I did. My instincts are usually right...I don't know, sometimes I feel like applying is a waste of time. Good luck to all of you btw!

It's not so much instinct, as an educated guess.

You compare yourself to others on this board and read the statistics on a college's website.

At they end of the day, you can only have an idea of where you stand. No instinct really involved.

But I do feel like it's always important to stay confident and positive. That's why I'll be receiving an acceptance letter within two weeks. ;)

haha, hopingfor, nice perspective.

I got one rejection, one acceptance, waiting on two. I want the good to outweigh the rejections come mid-December.

iansown-What universities did you apply to?

HopingFor - my instincts are 50/50 and right now i have no idea what my result would be. :P

Who here is applying for HumEc/PAM? Can anyone please list their EC's for me? Not detailed or anything, just a brief list. I know HumEc is all about fit, and EC's are supposed to reflect that. I'm curious as to what EC's reflect a good fit for PAM.

I'm in an Environmentalist club, undergraduate Law society (pre-law) and a community service club - I joined these out of personal interests, but now I'm trying to tailor my EC's so they fit PAM more. I don't have any leadership positions as they generally don't go to freshman...Any suggestions?

so, question.

is anyone else's fin aid not updated? and should I take it as a sign that they haven't looked at my app yet?

My FinAid isn't updated yet either. But they look at apps and finaid separately, so there's really no correlation.
