Who's applying for Spring transfer 09'-Cornell

I wouldn't think too many people apply as transfers if they definitely don't belong, so I think the majority of applicants are somewhat close in getting accepted..because of that, I think that the first decisions would go to people who are definite ins rather than definite outs, but what do I know.. I want to go to law school and originally was certain I wanted to practice corporate law, so as a senior in high school I decided that if I couldn't get into ILR (which i obviously didn't) then I would go to a business school elsewhere. Since then, Im not as certain about corporate law, but I am very interested in collective bargaining and labor law, possibly thinking towards a field relating with unions or sports (or both). I think UMD has a very nice business school in terms of the facilities, and I had a good business stat teacher. Besides that class, I couldn't take the lack of relationships developed between teachers and students at that school, and most of the education that I was getting could have come with only "a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library" as Will Hunting puts it. Aside from the textbook education that I feel most people get there, the school itself was pretty fun, for anyone looking for that sort of environment I have recommended it to them as a good school, just not for me. On top of me liking Cornell University, I dont think there is another program that I know of that fits me as well as ILR. If you have any questions about UMD feel free to ask.

sorry that everyone is coming across these huge posts of mine that probably dont pertain one bit to them.

Thanks for UMD info. I agree that in probably "in" hears first. I'm not sure if I get your thing about UMD, anyway what was the name of that good business stat prof?
Did you apply to ILR after HS and not get in? Also did you apply anywhere else now? ILR is the only place I applied.

I was mainly trying to say that the teachers don't really offer any more than you can get from a textbook.. at least thats what I thought from my brief stay there, but I am also probably biased since I was thinking of transferring the whole time. I applied to ILR in HS, but not to transfer since then if thats what you mean. I applied to bucknell, william & mary, tcnj, loyola & bentley.. got into bucknell, bentley & tcnj but havent heard from the other 3 yet.

I hope we get the call soon (well, as long as its for acceptance!), my birthday is monday, that would be a nice present if I got in ILR. It seems like I have been preparing for this moment forever now, and I can hardly believe it is finally almost here. I wonder how many non GT applicants ILR got for this spring, because before stm167 and brooklyngirl came to this thread I was on the only one that had applied to ILR. I was able to avoid thinking about this too much after my app was complete up until about the last week or so, but I am starting to get very anxious as my semester is over tomorrow (well have exams next week, but not too much).

OK yea I get the UMD thing. So you heard from Bucknell already? Is that a spring transfer too? I take it that you applied to ILR in HS but didnt get in?

Hermanns I am in the same boat as you in terms of being able to put it off, but recently it has been on my mind all the time. Yeah all the schools I applied for are spring transfer, and no I didn't get in out of high school.. way to rub it in jerk.

ST don't get to sensitive here...I realize everyone is anxious but my question in no way was intended as a put down. I apologize if you you misunderstood that I was just asking for clarification.
So there are at least 3 of us waiting...Hermann where do you go currently? Apply anywhere else?

oh yeah I was just kidding, don't worry.. where do you go to school btw?

I go to SUNY StonyBrook.

I go to a former CC recently turned 4 year (sort of, only a few programs, but community was dropped from the name) in florida. I already got in for next semester at Umiami and BYU (i'm not mormon, don't really know why I applied). I also got in UF for this fall but turned it down when I learned about ILR. However, I decided that if I don't get in I am sitting next semester out and working full time as I will have like 77 credits after this semester. A lot would not transfer to cornell anyways because 21 are from dual enrollment my senior year of HS and only 9 qualify under cornell criteria. I would have reapplied to UF for this spring and just gone there if Cornell did not work out, but they cut spring transfer to their business school because of major budget cuts. I feel really good about my chances for ILR, but it is very stressful to think about having to go through this process again if I don't make it. I think I could have waited better if I had avoided this thread, but started getting really anxious when reading what you guys said about possible calls going out this week (I was told it would be later, but this was back in late october).

Almost there guys!

So yeah, when I called HumEc and she told me Dec 11th, I was thrown off too. But she said that is when both ED and spring transfers decisions are being released for HumEc.

I hope I can get in and check at 5pm. The server is probably going to be majorly bogged down.

wow, Brooklyngirl, small world, I have two friends that go to StonyBrook!

gah, I am now gonna try and stop checking this thread 'cos I'm getting antsy

i was laughing really really hard when jset used the phrase "those of you who have been selected"..i don't ever want to meet that kid

anyone who apply for Cornell's economics?

I really wonder..coz I apply for econ and as my frd told me, it is very hard to get in,,,so I am kind of worry right now

Are you talking about Econ in CAS or AEM in CALS? AEM is pretty hard to get into.

Travelbook, you talk about a small world.. Im pretty sure me and Illusion were in english together 1st semester last year

I just checked my self service thing and it said I got accepted.. so apparently I was wrong about the phone call first.

Rejected (from the self service). Sorry guys, good luck.

Congratulations stm!

Sorry to hear that spartan.

Now I am starting to get really nervous, my self-service is the same. I am wondering if I will be one of the last in ILR to hear because my app was not complete until like half-way through november. Everything had been in my app, but someone forgot to check off the instructor recs on self-service, so it just sat in there for a while until I called.
