I’d also like to know if it would be wise of me to switch my state residency to Virginia as soon as possible if I plan to seek admission under the agreement. It’s a relatively painless proccess being in the military, so I could begin it at any time. Thanks!

Any news on the waitlist yet?

Decisions regarding whether or not we will be using the transfer wait list should be sent in the next few days.

i was planning on taking community college courses at a va community college. also, are more offers for housing being sent out? i haven’t recieved any news yet

Got rejected off waitlist. Don’t know whether or not it is because of academics or no waitlist spots? Email said something to the extent of that.

me too. i’m guessing we’ll be able to talk to the transfer dean to see why and what we should do next semester right?

I guess. Still curious if everyone got rejected off the waitlist or just some people.

Hello everybody,

I didn’t get an offer for housing so…would anyone be interested in getting an apartment?

Okay, W&M Admission is back in full effect.

starboardzor, yes, after completing 15 credits at a VA Community College, you can submit a letter of intent. It sounds like you hope to enroll in Fall '12 so the letter of intent is due by Sept. 1, 2011. You do have to complete 45 credits towards your AA at a VA Community College to meet the terms of the agreement, it’s not just 45 credits period. 45 of the credits have to be counted towards your degree and can’t come after you earn your associates. Does that make sense? In those 45 credits you also have to complete all the required courses the agreement details. If you do this and earn a 3.6 GPA and maintain the personal behavior standards of the agreement you will be guaranteed admission regardless of your previous GPA. We would also recommend that before you enter W&M, if you intend to be a full-time student, that you be a full-time student at TCC to get in the groove so to speak.

As for your residency, it’s not mandated for the agreement but you’ll want to establish it before you apply of course.

For those inquiring about housing, Residence Life has been in contact with those who have received housing to date. They will continue to be in touch with all those who applied for housing in June should spaces become available on campus. You can always contact them (757-221-4314) if you’re confused about your status.

For those asking about the waitlist, we were unable to admit anyone from the transfer waitlist so you weren’t “rejected”. Our transfer class come in full and we were not able to admit additional students. You can contact the transfer dean if you remain interested in W&M for Spring 2012 and she can guide you as to what might help you become more competitive.

I was just wondering how many more people usually get housing in June or July? I really don’t want to miss out on my first year experience at W&M and I feel like on campus housing is a huge part of it and I’m a bit upset b/c we were told that the application went live at 8 am when it actually went live hours earlier.

I haven’t been able to get into my myWM account for a few days. Every time I try to log in it says my account has been disabled for security reasons. It says I should contact my system administrator. So who do I contact to get this worked out?

cheeto01, there is no average number of people who get housing in June and July. It’s truly dependent on if any students who are currently housed decide to leave on-campus housing. We do apologize for the miscommunication about the transfer housing application. There was no way to know the exact time the application would go live because it was based on web publishing but Residence Life is aware of the issue and doing all they can.

umw, contact IT on Tuesday (757-221-4357) and they will assit you with your account.

W&M, Thanks so much for the info! Those were two questions my TCC counselor wasn’t 100% on, so it feels good to get that cleared up.

starboard, since you’re local, we’d definitely recommend that you attend a prospective transfer day this fall. They’re Friday afternoon programs designed exclusively for prospetive transfer students. The dates will be posted later this summer on the transfer part of our website.

Will the dorms be open during the Transfer Student Welcome Day on June 24th?

umw, likely not unfortunately. During the summer many of the residence halls are under constructions and cleaning. However, if you take the tour on that day you will be able to see a residence hall. Also, the Residence Life page has floor plans for every residence hall ([William & Mary - Upperlevel Halls](Upperlevel Halls | William & Mary))

What is the number to call for the transfer dean? Could I also send an email? What times can I call/email?

Thanks for the informative thread!

I am currently a homeschooled senior (graduated this month) and I plan to spend one year at the community college before transferring to W&M.

I have spent a year and half at the public high school (freshmen and half of sophomore); I have homeschooled the other one year and half. Because I used the time in summer, I was able to cover four years worth of high school in three years. Moreover, I have dual-enrolled (a high school student taking community college courses) and have done 8 APs. This combined with the one year at community college will give me at least 60 credits, enough to earn an Associates in Business. Furthermore, my SAT score was 2190; 1400/1600.

I have heard that high GPA is very important at W&M. How will my high school, especially my home-schooled portion, be evaluated?

My aim is to get into the school of business: what would you recommend me to do to increase my chances?

Generally, we do not recommend that students graduate high school early unless they have truly maxed out their high school curriculum (calculus, four years of science, fourth level of a single foreign language, etc.) so we will look closely at your high school transcript and your college transcript. Are you a Virginian? If so and you get an AA from a VA Community College and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher you are generally competitive for admission.

Some recommendations for you.

1) Be F/T these next two semesters (15 credits or more per semester)
2) Take ACC 201, ACC 202, ECO 201, ECO 202, Calc and Stats. These are the pre-reqs for the School of Business
3) Be sure to turn in your mid-semester grades next spring since we’ll only have one full-time semester of college to evaluate
4) Consider attending prospective transfer day this fall

Hope this helps.

I sent an email asking the questions I did above to the admissions office and they haven’t responded.
