Okay thank you.
Also on the College of William and Mary supplement essay. It says it is a short essay but it doesn’t have a word limit. What is the general guideline for this essay. It asks about the reasons why I wish to transfer to the school.

Hello!
William and Mary was my first choice as a high school senior, I applied early decision and was deferred and then denied. I plan on applying as a fall 2013 transfer student and I was wondering if you could tell me how my schedule is looking as far as competitiveness in your application pool and also if much if any of it would transfer easily.

This semester I’m taking:
Geology + Lab, Arabic 101, Intro Sociology, Freshman Seminar, and Intro Anthropology

Next semester I’ll be taking:
Geology + Lab [for the school i’m at two semesters is required for the science gen ed], Premodern History, British Literature Before 1800, Intro to World Religions, and Arabic 102

I’m a history major which is why I’m not taking much history yet because my major requirements would cover most of my gen eds, and I didn’t take any math / much English because I have a 4 on both English AP exams and i have 12 hours of math dual enrollment credit.

Assuming I do well in all of my classes there hope for me and my WM dreams yet?

Also, does the school we’re transferring from play a major part in the decision to admit or not? If it helps to know, I’m an in state Virginia student but I’d be transferring from the College of Charleston.

@audrey1212, what dual enrollment math did you take? If it doesn’t include stats or calc we’d definitely recommend you take math next semester. Otherwise, your schedule looks pretty good and most classes should transfer to W&M.

The school you’re transferring from can play a role in that it provides us context for the academic environment from which you are transferring. And of course your VA residency will also play a role.

Hi,
For transfer students, how long can the short “Why William and Mary” essay be?

There’s no particular word limit assigned to the essay but generally speaking one page is a good guideline.

Okay thank you.

I was wondering if any of these classes would be likely to transfer for the creative/performing arts requirement:
Art Studio- Visual Literacy (“a survey of visual culture with a focus on interdisciplinary methodologies”)
Playwriting
Italian Cinema (“a survey of major trends and directors”)

Thanks

That’s hard to answer since we don’t actually evaluate transfer credit in the admission office. Our best guess is that it’s not likely. Italian cinema is a very specific topic and playwriting isn’t really performing. The visual arts course is possible but there’s really no way to know for certain until you go through a transfer credit evaluation.

Oh all right. Thank you.

Hey guys! Did anyone else on here apply to transfer for Spring 2013?? Just a little bit longer to wait. Good luck to everyone I’m a current sophomore at a Southern LAC.

@penguin25 I’ve applied too. When do decisions come out? And also, when does Spring semester start?

@Matisyahu I’ve seen both December 5 and December 10 posted on the website. My guess is that because of Sandy, it’ll be pushed back closer to December 10 or a bit later. Orientation would be in mid-January probably.
good luck :)

We never have an exact date for releasing decisions until that day is just in front of us. Our process is a thorough one and it’s not one you can put a timeline on at the beginning. As soon as we know when decision will be released we’ll let students know.

You can see academic calendars online ([William & Mary - Academic Calendars & Exams](Exams & Academic Calendars | William & Mary)) at any time and look up key dates.

Good to know. Thank you!

When will Spring 2013 transfer receive decisions?

There’s no official date yet…I’m assuming that it’ll be about 5-10 days after ED candidates receive theirs. The admissions office will let us know once they do :)

@penguin 25 is exactly right.

@W&M Admission - is it going to some time this week?

We won’t know until they actually post in the blog when decisions are being released. But it seems like committee is coming along! :)

[W&M Blogs Overheard in Committee: Time for Transfers](http://blogs.wm.edu/2012/12/03/overheard-in-committee-time-for-transfers/)

@Matisyahu, we hope to release spring transfer decisions in the coming days but we have to make sure everything is processed and ready to go so please be patient with us and continue to follow CC and the blog for updates.
