Yale NUS Class of 2020

Hey guys, I had a question about life after Yale-NUS.
Is a Yale-NUS graduate at a disadvantage when searching for job opportunities in the US, compared to traditional US students?

@mayajumbalaya
That’s my point! Being called for an interview is totally significant, and not everyone gets called for an interview, but I am trying to say that getting into this college is VERY DIFFICULT and there’s nothing to be very excited about being called for an interview. While this may show that you have been shortlisted, it doesn’t guarantee a very high chance of getting into the college. It is obviously exciting to be shortlisted, but I am not very excited because I know that my chances of getting in are still slim. However, I hope that everyone on this tread gets in, and some of you are exceptionally talented, so you have a very good chance of being admitted!

I’m also very interested in finding out the answer to @mayajumbalaya’s question, as well as:
How are Yale-NUS graduates finding jobs after graduation?
Do they go back to their native country, go to the United States, or stay in Singapore to find work?
Are the kinds of job opportunities they have equivalent to that of Ivy Leagues (i.e. Yale)?

Any Yale-NUS graduates available to answer these questions? :smiley:

I asked a similar question to my interviewer. I asked him whether I would be given priority if I graduated from Yale-NUS and then applied to Yale’s MBA programme (Later realised this was a very stupid question to ask). He said that anyone graduating from Yale-NUS would be regarded as having the same skills as a Yale graduate. Even though there is no priority given to Yale-NUS graduates, they will be regarded as applicants from a reputed school. I know this doesn’t answer your question, and I don’t know how much recognition is received by Yale-NUS from employers in the US, but I guess some institutions and employers who know the school may recognise its high standards. I am no expert, so don’t take my words for granted.

On a different note, only 3 more weeks left, guys!!! Hold tight. Hope we all get in, even though that may be statistically impossible. Good Luck y’all.

Oh my god my interview was just ahmazing! We got along so well. I just loved that guy. I told him everybody at Yale NUS should be jealous of him cuz he was so handsome and he blushed like a baby ;))

Everybody had your interviews? How were they? :slight_smile:

Hi guys, has anyone of you got an invite to the EYW 2016 yet??

@ccuser123456789 from what I know, you get eyw invites along with your admissions offer

@ccuser123456789 what is that? Something related to Yale?

when are the results out?

@Lucas1998 March 21st.

Guys talk something I’m excited and terrified at the same time and seeing you guys talk about your anxiety makes me feel less alone in this I guess. What is going on in your lives and How excited or scared are you of the decisions date?

@rahuilmars231 Is Yale-NUS your first choice? :smiley: I’m excited to see decisions - only a couple weeks away! Right now school has been pretty relaxed, (senioritis is strong xD). How about you?

Hey guys last month the Yale NUS financial aid office contacted me a week before the financial documents were due (deadline to get the aid package with the decision letter - I believe the office accepts financial aid applications until May 15 for Round 1 and 2 applicants) asking me to upload some documents I forgot. And this week I received another email asking for clarification of some documents. Do the emails mean anything about my chance of getting into Yale NUS or should I take them as a grain of salt? Thanks

@bettyxyp88 It is my absolute first choice unless I get into the Original Yale or something :stuck_out_tongue:

@bettyxyp88 Did you get into any schools so far?
Oh and by the way, I turned 19 a few days ago and I feel old as fu*k lol. To tackle senioritis, just before you take a test or something, go to a comfortable space, pose like superwoman and clear your head. It’ll boost your confidence beyond belief. Its a ted talk that you should see- Google ‘most watched ted talk’

I have the same thoughts. I got similar emails about my tax forms last week

@rahuilmars231 it is a candidate weekend for admitted students

I really really hope we all get in guys! (there’s just a few of us on this thread anyway so its not exactly statistically impossible) :slight_smile:
