"You look like an east coast kid"

I am definitely am in a hurry haha and I'm from the East coast. But I think East Coast kids are betta ;)

New York is the best city there is (at least for the U.S.). Yes, I walk fast. Yes, I talk fast and loud. And yes the downside to the subway is that it will soon be 2.50 to get from point a to point b. but overall, at least there is a subway :)

ppl in holland (the non farmers) long to retire in spain and sunny places. I went to seattle and thought it was fantastic, every other 15 minutes when it was not raining. =P Seriously though, it seems as if you can leave your door open there in the mid of the city.

As far as east coast cities more run down, many of them are 100 or more years older than some cities here in socal. But the UV destroys things here and there are ghetto looking sunburnt cars here. Ppl do not take care of things here. Its one big polluted trash dump. The buildings look like they are falling apart, but they cost 1million + (at least here in southbay). I am not talking about the new built. But what most ppl can afford the 600K to 1million range. Its all CRAP! But then again, it is really ethnically diverse (between 3 ethnicities =DD) so maybe there is a culture conflict which makes ppl think its ok to dump on the side of the roads. I am from NoVa where it is expensive but reasonable, not 600K for a shack in the ghetto on a big street next to a hospital entrance with boards on the windows and a barred gate.

East coasters walking fast. Totally true. Plus I think many of them walk on the right side of the sidewalk (my personal experience but i am from a very military infused area). LA drivers though, they are SO fast and aggressive and they do the ODDEST things. I truly think that turn signals are not standard option here, plus, stop signs are just a suggestion, not a law, AND yellow means go and red means ok the oncoming traffic wont ride through me so I can still go. Oh, and right lane passing, is ok. AND motorcycles driving between traffic lanes, totally normal... YES on the highway. Ppl are ridiculous because they truly drive stoned. YUCK!

But LA has the #1 mexican food EVER. also, the best cupcakes. Also, cheap avocados. Lets see, super expensive gas but CHEAP carwashes. NorCal is really nice and does not have the problems of LA with the pollution and billboards littering the streets. Palos Verdes/Rolling Hills is nice to look at. Its clean! UCLA does have a fantastic education, I must say. Plus Cali, has a great system for bright kids who did not have the chance in high school to go to a good college for whatever reason, to actually attend top 25 schools thru community colleges. The Honors programs can be challenging, depending on the CC u go to. That is really fantastic. I met so many determined SUPER smart ppl in CC because of financial reasons or whatever.
Oh here is a huge plus, ppl here arent all obese like in Louisiana or Florida or something, so it keeps me in shape too!!

JGee, where in the SoBay do you live? I live in Carson.

And one of the main reasons why I don't like the South Bay is the fact that people are so ignorant about LA. I think LA is a pretty nice, world-class city. By that I mean anywhere north of like Exposition Blvd and South of the Valley. The South Bay is, at most, 16 miles from LA, but it may as well be a whole other planet. Whenever I hear people talk about LA, they talk about it like some giant crime-ridden monster of a place. So they stay tucked in their own little bubbles, floating from shopping mall to shopping mall.

Gah I hate the suburbs so much.

lol every texan i've ever known LOVES texas to death. i've met many very kind, generous texans (if you are not a heathen/atheist)

as for LA, i love ucla and santa monica and westwood etc. but the only time my friends and i go to LA is for concerts. people i know are afraid of LA in general. we live in the suburbs........... haha
new york is the best city in the US!

"I don't see why you guys hate Seattle, it's probably the place with the coolest-looking buildings."

Surprisingly, I don't decide where I live on the appearances of the inner city's architecture.

The corrupt, machine-controlled, radical, irrational politics and the total insulation and arrogance far outweighs the beautiful nature. Anyway, Sun Valley is a far better place to ski than anywhere in Washington.

"And Texans are the best. End of convo. We aren't spoiled little pansies like you yuppies on the east coast, and (some of us) aren't permanently attached to a blunt like west coast hippies. Most of our girls are real too."

^^ So true. ;)

and @ karmaapolice, it's true. I love my state and so does everyone here lol, the saying "don't mess with Texas" definately applies here.

Portland owns all. Clean city, amazing public trans, good music, nice food, small but big, lots of culture and art, great city in general

Portland looks exactly like philly, but cleaner. I'd rather live in philly though because it's east coast baby!

I walk fast, say "wicked" meaning "very," and don't talk to my neighbors.

= Boston

I'm from Socal...I've been to the east coast, but never anywhere else.

That is all.

This is true. I hate large cities, but I find Portland much more tolerable than most.

San Francisco ftw! Best city ever :D

Seattle is not a craphole, people.

It is, IMO, the best "big city" in the country. It feels safe 24/7 and people are always friendly unlike cities like LA or NY where you never really feel like you can contribute or "be a part of" the city, if that makes any sense.

Plus, public transportation is great, and you can go from the coast to the mountains in under an hour. Also, it actually isn't the rainiest city in the country if you consider amount of rain.

...fully expecting rebuttal...

Hey O, I live in torrance rolling hills. near crenshaw and PCH. Carson is better b/c it has five guys and ikea. ppl here think so local. torrance actually is split up into n/s/e/w/central/post office/and old. I am like ***???? torrance is like 4 streets big, how the hell does it have all these sections?!! Its not d.c. where it has quadrants that make sense. I was driving and thought i could cut thru 227th st, which is like max 1/4 mile long, and it randomly ended to start up again across the street as W. 227th st. My gps totally didnt recognize it either. Some ppl in n. torrance have never been to south torrance/etc. s.bay is a crap hole. have u seen those crappy dilapidated million dollar shacks in red.bch? they look like someone ran a car through the yards. with sheets strung across windows for curtains and dead skeltons of plants in the windows and plastic baby toys in the yards. And what is with all the diapers and poo and trash and chicken bones on the beach on red/herm/manhattan?

Sure ucla is nice b/c mooooovie stars are all around there. i went to the swiss consulate down the street and its normal there. But LAs 18 million peeps arent so lucky to live next to ucla =P. They are more likely to live near USC!! =PPP. True dat tho la suburbs has some decent (but plastic) looking areas : pasadena, irvine, p.v/rolling hills, etc. Just not south bay (excluding pv estates/r.h. estates)...yet its so popular here that a cardboard box is around 1.5 mil.

Boston metro= the only city i would live in apart from the d.c. metro. heej DwightE: is it possible to live there truly without a car?? I was applying to wellesley and tufts. Have u been to the area around tufts? whats it like?

Boawsten = Boston
When people from the West coast or Mid-West meet me, they're shocked to find out that I actually do say "wicked awesome". I was shocked for find out about "hella cool". I didn't even know it existed.

Anyway, I don't think that East Coast kids areall city kids, especially cuz, well, think about it. Some of us live in Vermont, and most of us live in the suburbs. We definitely are preppy, though.

JGee, Wellesley is two towns away from me. There is NOTHING here. It's really not in Boston at all. The only reason you don't need a car at Wellesley is because they have a Wellesley bus that goes to MIT every hour or two, so you can get into Boston and then take the T (public transportation) around. Tufts has a T station right near its campus, I think. Isn't it in Medford? That's much closer to Boston than Wellesley, but still not in it.

I'm from Texas.

I also can't stand country music, have never ridden a horse or touched a cow, loooove the cold and the winter, am about as liberal as they come, and can't wait to get out of the south ;)

norcal is definetely more chill than socal

btw I HELLA LOVE OAKLAND! haha

Haha NeoEpisteme. I also can't stand country music and have never ridden a horse in Texas (only colorado), I lovelovelove cold weather and winter. But I'm conservative and love my state :D. Oh well, Illinois here I come!
