2006 audition dates

Lexismom---

Is your D auditioning at OCU Nov. 18 or 19. Mine will be there the 19th, along with 2DsnMT's D. Ericsmom will be there the 18th, so I wasn't sure if you meant your D was also the 18th. I wrote on another thread about how my D will have to go to her auditions alone this year, but she'll be staying with 2DsnMT at OCU and maybe also with Shauna. I know you're from our state, too, and I think my D knows a boy from your county, but not your D's school, who is also auditioning Nov. 19. He was in Footloose with her at OCU this summer. What schools is your D auditioning for besides Elon and OCU?

We stayed at the Genesee Grande in Syracuse. Very lovely, very reasonable, includes a continental breakfast. The best rates were available directly from their website. In addition, it is walking distance to the performing arts center.

I'll be auditioning at OCU on nov 19th with another guy from my school. We're staying with a friend of his who's an MT major there.

Will you be staying at the dorms or the apartments, MTpolk? If my D stays with Shauna it's at the apartments. She wants to see Pirates of Penzance while she's there!

thank you freelance

I will check it out. Do you know which airport is the closest?

Lexismom

Syracuse only has 1 major airport, now called Syracuse Hancock International Airport. It was always called Hancock Field when I grew up near Syracuse. The only question is if you're flying on Southwest or another airline to save money, which I often do. Southwest flies into both Albany or Buffalo, which are least 2 hours away.

Can anyone explain why Yale keeps popping up on lists of who was at Unifieds in Chicago last year? What were they there for? They do not have a MY program. Does anyone know the answer?

mtmommy,
I'm almost positive it's in the apartments. He's in 'an apartment' but i'm not sure if it's THE ocu apartments.. :)
I'm SO excited to go audition there... it's definitely my top choice right now. It'd be cool to see other CCers at the audition.. to calm the nerves a bit.

I am assuming Yale is there for anyone who wants to also audition for straight drama, as some people are unsure. Yale really does seem to have a different philosophy about acting than the other MT programs. It seems that you almost have to pretend you don't like anything as simple minded as Musical Theater to be considered for their program. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel that those with straight drama programs don't have a lot of respect for MT majors- "a lower form of art" on the snob scale.

Yale does not even have an undergrad drama degree. They offer "theatre studies" for which there is no audition as I understand it.

Yale is at Unifieds for the same reason ACT (my alma mater) is. For grad students.

Yale does have a wonderful summer program I have had a student attend.

Tried to send you a PM regarding flying to Syracuse. I'm a S. Californian who lived there for a couple of years and flew to and from quite a bit. The PM didn't go through as you've exceeded your storage capacity.

I'm not sure how to delete. I'm only saving 4 messages. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I do not know how to clear my messages. Can you advise?

Thanks

We stayed at a Residence Inn in Syracuse. It was a few miles from the airport. The best thing about it was an italian restaurant nearby. We got in late, and had dinner at around 9pm, the waiters were very friendly and the food was awesome. After dinner they brought a big platter of cotton candy to the table and plopped it down and front of us. My D and her friend were very impressed. Sorry I don't remember the name, but it was just around the corner from the hotel. There were about 15 hotels in that area and it was just off the toll road, or turnpike or whatever you call it. I think it's the best italian food I've had in my life.
I heard some feedback from other parents on the tour of Syracuse that they were unhappy they stayed in downtown, said it was pretty seedy. I was satisfied with the area we stayed.

Lexismom,

When you look at your private messages you should see white boxes on the right side of the page directly across from the message titles. Click on the box of a message you would like to delete. Then go to the gray bar at the bottom of page that says selected messages. You should be able to scroll down and click delete at that point.
