Congrats! I got mine about 2 weeks ago because I'm auditioning there Nov. 18. Ahh, that's soon. Anyone else going that day? Also, I'm going to be auditioning at Buffalo Nov. 11, Point Park Nov. 12 and Carnegie Mellon Nov.13 (yeah yeah I know, 3 in a row, I'm going to die...) :)

This forum is great for meeting people! I'm getting big lists together of people who will be at auditions the same day as us. If you post a date that we are doing and your e-mail is activated, I'll write you. I have lists of 5 or 6 CC kids at 3 of our auditions that are coming up this fall.

I'll have on my flag lapel pin, blue pant suit, and will be the mom with the southern accent.

Congrats, Broadwaywannabe!! Quite an accomplishment, as they're really picky as far as academics!!!

Following up on Susan's comments before about confirming everything:

one schools says they didn't get my daughter's SATs despite the fact that they were ordered in late August and other schools in the same batch got them. It's possible this school misfiled them or college boards messed up. In this case the school says I can have my daughter's HS send something that verifies it.

School #2 tells me that yes, they have gotten the school report but that the transcript is "unofficial" because it was not sent under the school seal. There was NO WAY my daughter's school would have done this wrong. This is a private school with a very experienced college office. So I had the college advisor call this school and sure enough something had been wrongly filed by the college or wrongly marked.

school number 3 says that our audition request (for NYC unified) hadn't been responded to because my daughter put down a date that was some how contradictory. Now this same school has called us 3 times to invite us to open houses but no one called up to clarify this alleged mistake. Finally I got through to someone to get this issue resolved.

2 schools have yet to respond to our request in the application for time slots at unifieds. They are on my list to call next week. They have of course cashed our checks and I think even sent post cards or e-mails saying they had the apps.

There is so much paper work involved in this process,so I am not surprised things go astray. So "keep on top of things" is the best advice.

I just wanna offer kudos to the parents who are good secretaries. This process involves a lot of paperwork and record keeping and a mom or dad who can call and followup while you are at school. Yay moms and dads who are the support behind the scenes!

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted but I was just wondering how all the auditions (if any) are going. My d auditioned early (Elon) and loved everything about the school. Her next audition is OCU.

I was wondering if anyone is auditioning for U of A? It looks like they only have two audition dates. Has anyone heard from NYU for approval for auditioning? Steinhardt in particular.

Best wishes to all who are now auditioning. I think my d has finished her last essay (yeah). Now she can just concentrate on her audition material.

She will opens this Thursday with "Into the Woods" and has come down with a cold. Ironically, she is a soprano, playing Cinderella, but she feels her cold actually adds to the sound her character should portray. We're just praying she doesn't loose her voice. Any recommendations other than throat coat, vocal rest as much as possible, sleep as much as possible.

Thank you,

Lexismom

Lexismom--I'm so sorry she's sick, but it sounds like she has a great attitude about it. Please have her steam her face; it works great.

Does Arizona have their audition dates up? Their website isn't working. Can you tell me the dates? Thanks!

Lexismom, during a three-way phone conversation with two of my Ds, I know one of them commented on Steinhardt's E.D. audition day being November 19 (because a couple of kids they know are auditioning that day) and then the only other one for MT which would be before February is Dec. 3. I'm guessing your D is not doing E.D.? Does Steinhardt not do it online like Tisch? Or even by phone? I know that you get instant confirmation from Tisch so I'm surprised that Steinhardt doesn't do the same thing.

I have two ED students going to Tisch to audition. One on Nov 15 and the other Nov 18. Both are ED.
It is my understanding that no audition appointment will be given to regular decision candidates until November 1

That's true of Tisch, maryanna, I'm not sure if it is also true of Steinhardt, which it appears is what Lexismom wanted to know. Tisch will not usually even list their possible dates until after Nov. 1 for R.D., but Steinhardt has all of their dates listed now.

Last year my D got a date from Steinhardt quite early and auditioned in November, and she was not ED.

chrism, you're right. I didn't explain that very clearly. Nov. 19 is the date for all E.D. candidates, but not exclusively for E.D. It's an open house date for auditions and R.D. candidates are also welcome to come that day. In other words, if you're E.D., you HAVE to go that day, but if you're R.D., you have a choice. :)

The year my D auditioned for Steinhardt (2003), she did the first Open Audition day in November, Nov 3 as I recall (don't ask me why I can remember a date from 2 years ago but not what I had for dinner last night........) and therefore past the date when ED apps were due (Nov 1). However, in the pre-audition meeting, the Steinhardt Chair offered that anyone who was auditioning that day could decide to go for ED, get their application in before 11/15 and still be considered. My D was not interested in ED but I know that several other kids took him up on the offer. Don't know if that was done last year or will be offered again this year. She was accepted but they don't notify RD candidates until Spring.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my NYU question. I spoke to the counselor this am. They have an open audition in November. Everyone else has to wait to be "invited to audition after academic approval. Guess we just have to wait and be patient.

mtmommy - Arizona has two dates (that's it) Friday ll/17 and Saturday ll/18 9:00 to 5:00. here is the site - http://web.cfa.arizona.edu/theatre/students/degrees_acting_BFAmusical.php

I hope this helps. My d is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00. Her grandparents live in Tuscon so we'll have a nice visit.

Theatermom,
yes, Steinhardt offered that ED option at the Nov audition last year as well.

Hello,

Can anyone advise where I might find a list of working alumni for Syracuse University. I can only find the alumni club. Just curious on their status of working alumni.

Thanks
Lexismom

A friend of ours graduated from Syracuse a few years ago. She's very talented; was in Secret Garden as Martha with my d. She hasn't worked professionally, but I don't know if she really looked. She was married before graduating college!

Lexismom.

I would go straight to the source and call the MT department at Syracuse. I know that many other highly regarded programs have this information readily available for prospective students and parents but you may have to request it. I know that UM has a list like this on their website. If you are interested, you can check it out here:

Hope this helps.

Taye Diggs graduated with a BFA In MT from Syracuse.... He's certainly been doing pretty well for himself!

Just off the top of my head, Vanessa Williams and Taye Diggs would be famous alums. We have several friends on Broadway or recently on Broadway or in tours who are Syracuse grads from 1999-2001 or so. Colin Hanlon is in Rent, Haneefah Wood was in Brooklyn, Rent and also in the out of town Little Shop before it came to Broadway, Rob Sapp is in Wicked, Jason Weston was or is still (not sure) in Mamma Mia, Liz Power has been in Jekyll and Hyde tour (ensemble and Lucy) as well as Evita tour and currently in Annie tour which is supposed to come to Braodway. And I'm sure there are many, many more. It's a great program.
