2006 Fall Semester OFFICIAL UPENN transfer Applicant Thread!!!

how do you know they only accepted 200?

gosh... can someone call & ask approximately how many people so far were given acceptances?

and in what kind of order do notifications come out?

PS It's Saturday.

that's what it said in my FAQs of my rejection:

How many students are admitted?

Each year approximately 200 students transfer into the University of Pennsylvania, selected from close to l,900 applicants.

That would mean 200 out of 265 acceptees end up enrolling?

Still no word.

for accepted students, is there a link to check aid?

there should be.

foriven, did you get a decision?

i think that somebody asked to see a copy of the electronic notification:

Dear Andrew,

Congratulations! It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend the College at Penn at the University of Pennsylvania as a member of the transfer class entering in September 2006. The members of this year's transfer class were chosen by a very personal selection process during which admissions officers and faculty reviewed nearly 1,900 applications in search of individuals whose abilities and talents would enrich the undergraduate experience at the University.

As we invite you to become a part of the Penn tradition, we encourage you to explore the ways in which you could make your own unique contribution to this distinguished heritage of academic excellence, social leadership, and cultural advancement. A distinguished faculty, nationally recognized academic departments, and opportunities for combined graduate and undergraduate study, in addition to an extensive program of social and cultural activities, combine to make this campus a lively and challenging environment in which to pursue your chosen course of study.

The packet of information you receive will answer many of your questions and we urge you to read it carefully. A preliminary evaluation of your transfer credit will be available within three weeks. You will be able to access this information online through our decision website at www.admissions.upenn.edu/decisions. If you applied for financial aid, and submitted all of your required documents by the due dates, an evaluation will be mailed to you starting mid-May and will also be available on the decision website by following the PPOL link after logging in. Although you need not reply until you receive this information, I recommend you send the reply card and deposit as soon as possible since this will enhance your housing opportunities on campus.

Also keep in mind, if you are currently enrolled in a college or university, that this approval has been granted with the understanding that your spring term record will show evidence of the same high quality of work that your previous record has shown. Be certain to have your Registrar's Office forward us an official copy of your final grades as soon as they become available.

On behalf of the Penn community and the Admissions staff, I would like to congratulate you warmly on your excellent scholastic and personal achievements. If there are questions with which we might be helpful, or if you have not yet visited the campus and would like to do so, please do not hesitate to let us assist you. We are looking forward to seeing you in September.

Sincerely,

Willis J. Stetson, Jr.
Dean of Admissions

another acceptance...this isn't looking too good for me, only those two rejections? Well someone a while back said the next batch goes out Wednesday the 17th, so it will be a long few days until then..

I got in.....yay!!!!!!!!!!

when did u find out??

Right now...But the decision was out on May 11, but I hadnt checked it...I was sure i was gonna get rejected so I didnt bother to see...

Congrats pepsi...this was well deserved.

Thanks a lot, Soho......I was so freakin out after all these rejections.......

Yeah! It seems like most CCers had pretty decent luck in Penn admissions so I hope it continues throughout all the waves.

Congrats pepsi, I echo soho2's words in saying that you deserved it.

I wonder what is going on with my decision, though :(

Pure speculation after reading over last years thread has led me to believe that they use their 3 release dates to progressively narrow down the many applications they receive. Since so many acceptances have already gone out, it looks like they use the first date to send out decisions to the people they are most sure about since it is to their advantage to notify their accepted students as early as possible- this makes sense since the other Ivy leagues besides Harvard have already released decisions. All the rest who they are still considering get pushed back, and perhaps that is why the two rejections were from community colleges where most credit would not transfer to Penn since they are known for already being difficult with granting credit. The next wave still has slots for some acceptances, but not as many, and if you haven't heard by the second wave you are most likely not getting in, although one poster got in during the last wave last year. Again, this is just my speculation, but I think it makes sense. I am still holding out hope.
