2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

Duffle

You will get in... no worries! =)

I am taking Public Speaking this semester. Our last speech is a sales presentation. We need to sale an intangible/ tangible service or product to the class. I will be selling New York University to my class. In my presentation, at least 10 appealing reasons will be provided to transfer to NYU.
I hope an admission counselor at NYU hears my presentation and admit me to NYU. ;)

Haha that's a cool class !
We dont have those in France...
Duffle dont worry, be positive, Im sure ull get in !!!

still nothing in the mail for me! ugh!
instead of worrying about nyu at this moment i should be writing two ten page papers for school!!

hopefully there will be some nyu mail in our mailboxes tomorrow!

hey :)
i didnt know about this forum until a few days ago and i know its late but oh well :)

My stats are:
~3.85 College GPA
and a 'A' average GPA from Sweden where I am from.

I am an international student(from sweden) but I currently go to Hawaii Pacific University. My parents are also from India so I believe my different cultural backgrounds will help for diversity etc. (i said this is additional information essay)

I think my 'transfers only' essay was pretty good, I had several good reasons as well as good writing.

Dean's List 3 semesters at current university

A bit of community service.
Worked last summer at a home for patients with mental retardation.

I think one of the strongest parts is my athletic past which I wrote a lot about in my additional information/EC essay.

I have played soccer for about 15 years(I'm 19) in Sweden, and there I was offered positions in some of Swedens best private clubs but I had to decline due to moving to the US for 2 years, and I also had a few other offers once I got to the US with teams for boys that were 2 years older than me. I was also chosen to play for the stockholm team and was a candidate to be able to play for the Swedish Junior National Team.
I also played a lot of Tennis in which ive also won many tournaments for example 2 Junior Division tournaments in Dallas as well as getting 2 Best Effort Awards, and a stockholm regional tournament in Sweden where I placed 2nd.
+ lots of other sports(like snowboarding and surfing) which I wrote a bit about in my personal essay.. :)

I believe my short answers were fairly good too.

I only sent 1 recommendation though, I didnt know you could send more, but that one however is really good.

I guess ill find out soon enough how it went, called them this morning and they said they have everything and that I will probably find out pretty soon.. my mailing adress is back in sweden though :p so might take a couple of extra days.. :p

what do you think ?

I think you're in! How are your HS stats and SAT's? Anyway those are really good stats and you made it a point that you are more than just numbers...good luck!

I finally got my HS transcripts in through fax and the lady confirmed so I'm hoping my application will be complete by tommorow and I can have a decision early December.

On another note:

I was talking to a friend who applied to NYU as a transfer and he was telling me that when he came on here he got so scared because everyone had really good stats. He didn't have nearly as good stats, but he got in! So I'm hoping it's the same with us...none os us have really bad stats hopefully we're just nervous and pessimistic and in reality we'll all get in. Just some food for thought :]

btw wow we really added a lot of pages to this forum! and that's only spring transfers and a handful of people...haha it's pretty cool I feel like I know you all already!

ns89
welcome! i think you have a pretty great chance of getting in! i only sent one recommendation too by the way.
we are all waiting to find out now! no one on here has heard back yet so we are all stressing out a bit. so if you hear anything from them don't forget to tell us :]

Love3qualsHate
yeah! this forum really picked up!! i thought i would have no one to stress out with, but i do and i'm glad. that's great that your app is about to be complete

anybody want to predict when the first person will get a decision back from nyu? im going to guess december 3rd with most of us recieving our decisions a week or so later

dufflebagjesus
i am going to guess tomorrow or saturday! maybe i am being optimistic, but i for sure think before thanksgiving someone on here will have heard back from nyu.

Please, just give me a decision. I actually burst into tears in my World Literature Class!

Love,

When you fax in your transcript, did you include a cover letter or just directly fax in the transcript?

Tks

I faxed it over with a cover sheet when I sent it, but that copy they never got. I told my school to fax on over and that's the one they got. I don't know if they included a cover sheet. Probably?

If you send it over they'll see your name and they'll automatically match it, I think.

Makes sense, no?

yep, it makes sense. My high school just faxed a copy of my high school transcript to NYU. I will fax a copy of my Penn State transcript to NYU tomorrow.
I have requested them to be sent but they never received my transcripts.

I have the feeling well hear from NYU around december 1st too... Although we could get a decision today.. aie aie aie..
I have a question :
If by any chance ure not enrolled as a student, is it difficult and risky to become a non-matriculate student and then apply a second time?

It's COMPLETE!!! Finally :]

i am soo desperate to hear back from nyu...
do you guys think if my mailing adress is outside of the us... they can email me my decision...?? it took like 3 weeks for my first letter to arrive!!!

ummm.. Love,.

I haven't receive another letter from NYU yet! The one your received about what credentials you are missing.

I got in in my email....maybe you should call! It might already be complete :]
