I'm stupid and thought coolants last post was for the dates transfer letters were going to be sent out nm

if anybody wants to vent at any point/distract me from my six papers that i have to write this month my AIM is goknicks82

im taking a shower...

Based on the previous post, I am getting the impression that transfers are evaluated after EARLY DECISION candidates.

Anyone out there, like me, is stuck in the dorms? I am not in the mood of celebrating Thanksgiving!

I just called the NYU admissions office and spoke with a counselor. I told her about my quandary concerning having to choose between NYU and the internship program I'll attend if I don't get accepted and I stressed that I'd have to pay a penalty if I didn't cancel by today, which is called a "squeeze play" in their lingo.

She told me that about 90% of transfer decisions HAVE NOT been made, and that the majority of candidates will hear back the first or second week of December.

I was so scared she would tell me I was rejected. I even had to write down a script when speaking to her! and I sounded like a robot haha

Okay now that we've had several people say this, I think it's safe to let my guard down till at least December, I'm gonna relax a bit. Wow I'd hate to be an admissions officer, sounds like a lot of work!

december sucks! i've already registered for my classes for the next quarter at my school and i hope i don't have to take them!

if i don't get in i am going to call the admissions office and tell them to change early mid-november to december! it's just wrong to have us expecting something like nov. 15th when it is really in december.

i'm really scared that i'm not going to get in. so be prepared when i get rejected to read things i wrote like, "i never really wanted to go" or "it was too much money anyways". haha

haha yeah expect to hear those things from me too....and a lot of S hit talking about them too.

and yeah we should all call! be like you guys are so irresponsible blh blah blah

I enrolled in my next sem. classes today and I too hope that I never have to step foot in them.

No, not kidding...the letter is dated the 20th.

Stats
HS GPA 2.9
Nassau Community College GPA 4.0
SAT 680V 720M
Other than that just PTK and Dean's List
I also did work in IT for awhile

I am still trying to access the system to see my financial aid award but it seems
to be a little buggy atm...

Anyway, good luck to all of you!

tired@NYC
congratulations! sorry to think you were kidding, it's just there were no exclamation marks or anything, you seemed really calm and i don't think any of us would of been that calm! lol

what did it look like, the acceptance letter!? big, small, purple!?!?

Love3qualsHate
hopefully we won't have to step foot in them!

Heh, yeah kinda didn't show on text I guess, I am very happy tho, I was just letting people know that the decisions were being sent out...

O, the package...

Big envelope, purple folder inside
New York University on the cover
Congratulations and Welcome!
Some text about how you have been selected

Inside was an acceptance letter, Candidate's Reply Form, transfer credit info, and a 1 page guide on how to use the NYU Home system.

Hmm...folder has a picture of Washington Sq Park inside it...

Thats about it I think

wow, gratz tired :)

i just got the scariest email from my parents... since i put my permanent adress back home in sweden, as my mailing adress, my nyu mail will be sent there, and so ive told them to keep an eye out..

so i just got an email from them, and the subject was, 'NYU letter' and there was an attachment..
so of course, im trippin balls, got sooo nervous, and i open it, and its like, hi, we just got this letter etc etc..
and it turns out it was just a letter confirming that they had gotten my application and that they will look through it and make sure they have everything etc.. the same email thati got 2 weeks ago.. i was so maad :P

anyway, that brought me to another question, my dad said the letter was dated to november 13, so im guessing, maybe they started looking through stuff back then already.. and even more, it was dated back then, and it took 2 weeks to get to sweden to my parents house!!! ***.. so if they do make the decisions by mid december like theyve been saying now, im gonna be getting mine in like the beginning of january!?!? thats not very good, since that would be i have to find someone else to take my place in the apartment, get a ticket to nyu, accept my offer of admission, TELL MY GIRLFRIEND(she lives with me, and she knows i applied, so dont think of me as an ass :P).... and pack and everything, as well as sign up for classes.. in like a week or 2..
this is gonna suck.. :P but on the other hand, tired already got in, and his was dated to nov 20, which means maybe they just said mid dec, is when everyone will have been notified and that is the last date or something as well as giving themselves some margins...
i dont know.. hopefully, we'll get something soon.. hopefully..

tired@NYC
are you in new york state? so it took 5 days to get to you?
thank you for the description by the way!

ns89
i hope you get in and find out soon! it's a good thing your girlfriend knows! i hope it all works out.

tired, did it say anything on the letter about you were chosen for a class of (# of spaces) from (how many applications)

!!?

so i saw this on the the nyu admissions message board thing regarding the latest we would hear...

question: "When is the latest we can expect to be notified of acceptance/non-acceptance for the spring 2009 semester? "

answer: "We typically have things wrapped up by mid-December, but it is not unheard of to notify a small number of students early in January."

i truly hope none of us have to wait that long

Tired: Have you decided if you will attend NYU or Columbia GS?

tired@NYC,

Congratz on been admitted into NYU! Which undergraduate college of NYU did you apply to? I called NYU on Wed and was notified that they are still missing my high school transcript. This is so stressful.
I have been staying awake till 6 AM (my time) everyday because I will be able to call them right they start the day.

Hope I receive a decision before my birthday! =)

I applied to CAS, my intended major being biochem, but I have not decided yet where I am going yet.
GS offered me $6800, I still can't get my Financial Aid PIN from NYU to check on my aid package there although I am not too optimistic, Polytech offered me around $24000 to go there...gonna have to go over all my options over the break and hope I make the right choice I guess...

ahh Thanksgiving :] A day to rest from all of our admissions worries and eat good food.

I hope everyone has a great one while we put these stresses on hold until tommorow!
