2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

everything Love3qualsHate says i say too. i for one am glad to put the stress on hold.
that being said, i will be on here tomorrow stressing out like i never have before if i don't get a decision in the mail!

jajaja... so i live in mexico.. i dont get thanksgiving.. im actually in finals... i fainted at the dentist today... jajaj i really need to hear back from nyu jajaj

By the way, how is New School (also located in NYC)? I am thinking applying to New School as a backup school.

ahhhhh!!!!!
i got nothing in the mail from nyu today!

this is really stressful, horrible, nerve-racking and a lot of other stuff i probably shouldn't say on here. this time last year a lot more people heard by now.

did anyone receive any good news in the mail today from nyu or any mail from nyu at all?

I got in!

Yes!

oh god yes

it came in a big envelope 5 minutes ago my mom showed it to me i opened it

i still cant believe this

ahahahaha yes I WIN

congrats dufflebagjesus

welcome to nyu!

congrats dufflebag :]

You deserve it what an awesome after thanksgiving present!

TO ALL-

it has been awesome stressing about nyu with you guys and i will continue to be on here for the next few weeks to sweat it out with you. it was almost two years ago that i found out i was rejected from nyu for freshman admissions and i was completely heartbroken...lots of hard work and i'll be attending come january...

BEST OF LUCK EVERYBODY,
david "dufflebagjesus"

ps. if anybody wants to talk about whatever, again my aim is Goknicks82 feel free to distract me from my paper writing

congratulations dufflebagjesus!!! you were the first out of all of us regular posters!
you're going for sure right?

hopefully more people on here will be getting good news. i am so nervous, i really don't think i am getting in, i just have a feeling.

for sure? um, pretty close...im 97% sure, i just need to take a step back for a couple of days and make sure its what i want to do, but yea im pretty much going to go

Hey dufflebagjesus does it say anything about how many applicants/size of class on the acceptance letter?

Hey Everyone!I have a question for the guy that got accepted-dufflebagjesus-first, congrats!! My question is, did they give you a lot of information about how many credits they accepted/ did not accept? If so, what did they not accept? If we get accepted, when are we eligible to register for classes and how does that work? Will be closed out at this point considering current NYU students registered for second semester weeks ago? Also, will we get housing? Do they assign us an advisor? Thanks so much for your help.
P.S. I am hoping to get in but doubtful that I will. I am at a school much like NYU but have a 3.31 gpa from last year and dont have my grades for this semester yet. I had As in everything except a C+ and a B- in upperlevel senior classes that I never should have taken and am now paying for it. I did better in high school-almost 3.9 gpa, 1320/1400 on the SAT and President of quite a few clubs but am concerned that NYU will reject me due to my low college gpa and downward trend of grades. Any thoughts? Or is there anyone else in a similar position? I am currently freaking out because I havent heard yet and know that people are already finding out and that other schools have already notified their transfers and transfers to my school, for example, are already filling out housing papers and registering for classes. It makes me nervous that a) if i get into nYU, ill be behind or b) that i wont get in at all....any else feel the same?

love3equalshate-

unfortunately they did not indicate the number of acceptances or class size in the letter

mickyb-it appears that they have accepted all my classes except for the ones i took pass/fail, although they ask for documentation from the profs. of those classes indicating i got better than a c, so they may accept them yet...hopefully

on my reply form it says "offered" under housing status, but im still not yet convinced that im going to get it...i was not assigned an advisor yet, probably when i send in my confirmation of attendance...for course registration it says that once i send in my confirmation of attendance i will get something mailed to me about course registration and orientation

also, what school are you applying to? im assuming cas...you wrote that you got a 1320/1400 on your sat? did you mean 1320/1600? im assuming so...most people havent heard yet from nyu so i wouldnt be too concerned from that...what are your college ec's? i wouldnt get your heart too set on nyu, i made that mistake for freshman admissions... your college gpa may well harm your chances of being admitted, most competitive applicants have college gpa's somewhat higher than yours although people have gotten in with 3.3's, i think

to gallatin peeps-

my transfer of credit form is dated november 8th so they must have decided by that date at the latest...they must have been holding my decision back for a few weeks, perhaps because they were waiting to make decisions on other applicants and send mine out with the rest...so yours too may be coming soon...

dufflebagjesus congrats again, it must feel great to have the stress lifted off your shoulders eh!

MickeyB10- think positive! you never know with nyu since they take into account the whole applicant not just your grades. most people on this thread have not heard back yet and i am very nervous myself! keep us posted on your admissions status and good luck!

dufflebagjesus-yes i applied to cas and i did mean 1320/1600 i had a typo there sorry. my college ec's are that i was part of an honors seminar living and learning community for politics and values where we got credit for accelerated courses in philosophy and political science, i was in a leadership program where i was paid to study basically, im a journalism major at the school which is a selective program, and im the pr/communications rep on a board of a student organization. i had a good internship for the past few summers. unfortunately i dont think any of this matters because nyu is very numbers oriented and my gpa, although from a good university, is quite low. however, thats great that nyu accepted so many of your credits and said they would give u housing. some transfers at other schools get really screwed over.and ps thats so nuts that ur transfer credit form was dated nov 8. they made ur decision so much faster than everyone else cuz i called last week and they said they havent made most yet and werent even telling some ppl until january.

michaelw-good luck to u!!!

duffle,

I am so happy for you! Congratz! You deserve to go NYU! I really hope my decision will be out soon! I applied to NYU Gallatin too!

I really really hope we will be able to take the same classes at NYU next semester (if I get in, I am going to attend!) Btw, what is your college GPA?

I think I will be rejected because my GPA is around 3.19 and I have crappy high school grades. =(
