2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

Since you have more than 30 credits, i dont even think they use your HS or SAT records into the admission decision. Good luck!

4 Days until application is officially due, and about 10 days until first decisions arrive for the Spring 2009 semester. IM SO NERVOUS AND EXCITED!

I sent in my application for admission last week! Today I received a "letter" from NYU. It is just requesting me to visit NYU > Undergraduate Admissions to find out is really NYU right for me.
I don't need to find out. My mind and heart is set on NYU (dying to get into NYU). I AM ALSO SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS TO FIND OUT THE DECISION!

I am so obsessed with NYU! The words “New York University” printed on the letter in purple are so “eye catching” and “appealing”!

ahh you guys are making me more nervous (I lied, it's not humanely possible for me to be more nervous)...ugh I havent finished yet, but I'm almost there!!

I don't know what I'll do if I don't get in either. I had a dream last night I was an admissions counselor and I accepted myself...I woke up so happy!

haha

I had a dream this past April that I was admitted into Syracuse, but I don't want to go there!

So exciting!!!!! GOOD LUCK
any last q's PM

When are the decisions to be released? Also do people who got their applications last week or a month ago have a significant advantage over people like me who got their application in right before the deadline?

I called and asked about that also. They said no it is all the same no matter when you submit it.

Damn I turned mine in on September 20. I need a response quickly because I have until November 30th to cancel on some study abroad semester program with another school without being charged 1000 bucks..

You guys think they'll be in by then?

Call them maybe next week and let them know your deadline.

You don't think they'll shoot me or kill my app, though? haha

I don't know...I'm too scared to call and then hear I got rejected from a person...I'd like the only people to know I was rejected is me, the admissions officer, and the mailman who delivers the letter haha

I had the same concern

I called NYU and they said the same thing; that those who submitted it a month ago hold no advantage over those submitting it at the deadline.

However I asked the guy who helped me with my application who does this stuff for a living, he said it did matter. It usually takes a week to process the application, to get all the associated materials (sat scores, recs., etc.) together in a folder with your application. When they start reviewing (I guess on November 1st) the applications who got in earlier and are already processed will have a better shot. If early on there are, say, 200 spots for transfers they may willing to let in an applicant they would not let in a couple weeks later when there are only 10 spots open...if that makes sense

I submitted it only a few days before the deadline so I'm hoping they process my quickly....ugh

I called them on Friday and they told me that admission decisions will be released around mid- December. That is still a month away from now!

Online it says "Early Mid November".

hmmm

Did you mean to say that if you submit it earlier you have a better show and "they may [not be] willing to let in an applicant they would not let in a couple weeks later when there are only 10 spots open"

if so, then I completely agree with you because I think the earlier they get the application the better because after a while they would have read a ton of apps that probably sound just like yours.

did you guys get a confirmation email right after you submitted your app? mine says submitted on embark but i havent gotten any email yet.

december? ugh...i dont know how that could be, it says early-mid november on the website. can anybody confirm this?

the website said that you are to recieve 4 emails in regard to your application...the second and third emails were sent pretty much right after i submitted my app. online...the 4th email takes a week or two to come after the application is processed

cherrybomb-

i am confused with the logic of your sentence, it appears you have added multiple negatives to mine...i do think however we are on the same page

it is not so much that they get "tired" of reading applications, they are professionals...it is just that as the admission process winds down, if there are only 5 or 10 spots open and 100 or so available transfers, they will obviously be a lot more selective than earlier on in the admissions process

right.

sorry it was late when i wrote that.

but i agree, i'm applying for fall 2009 and i plan on sending in my app on jan 2 and having my high school stuff, transcripts, etc. in by mid-late jan....everyone post your stats its nice to see what everyone had and how it affected them getting in.

p.s. i think a 10% acceptance rate sounds low, i believe they around 21%
