2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

NS:

lol Bally's Total Fitness....it's a gym! hahahahah mann I'm going surfing tommorow I dont care if I have an essay....it's been really cold here though and it started raining today. LAME

anyway I'm calling NYU tommorow they need to stop lagging!

side note:

I just went out with a bunch of USC people and man they're haters! They were all saying how USC is better...i was outnumbered! I only had Tisch and Stern to defend NYU Pride! I also said "at least NYU is in Manhattan and not South Central---the ghettoist place in the US!" lol

USC<NYU!

Anyways, I am still awaiting that decision in the mail.

However, I am really panicking already. Due to this point, I started to work on my application for admissions to Parsons School of Design. :(

Love,

You coming down to San Diego to surf???

i haven't checked my mail yet, but i am sure nothing is in there!

love- that's the only bad part about usc is the neighborhood it's in. it can get pretty scary at night when you get lost going to a party there let me tell you! haha

if the rest of us don't hear today i wouldn't be surprised! ugh!

i predict somebody on here will find out their decision today! and i predict that person will be accepted

it could be you!

noo! i don't think i was accepted!

i called and the lady i talked to said your LETTER has been mailed out to you and you should be hearing this week.

i honestly seriously 99% think i am getting a rejection letter. ugh! all that worrying i have done was for nothing i guess!

for everyone who is accepted congratulations

the people at NYU are *****ing idiots.

I called today and was requesting some information. I told them that I sent in my deposit over a week and a half ago.

The stupid lady told me they would have have received it and insinuated that I was lying. Then, without even knowing who I was or any information, told me that if I can't even pay a deposit maybe NYU isn't the school for me!!! What a btch. I did pay the deposit, I can afford to go to NYU, and she needs to *.

I honestly have to re-asses if I really want to go there. That was unacceptable behavior, especially from a representative to the school I've always wanted to go to. If they're going to treat me like a number and if it's going to feel so cold maybe I shouldn't go. UGH

Worst Day Ever.

I got in!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! I have been crying for like hours... Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I am so excited

Congrats EastCo22221!!!!!! Welcome to NYU

love - wow that was really rude of her. To be blunt though, you are a number and little more than that. you are not a person to NYU, you are $50K a year...I'm sorry if this is kinda harsh, but that's the way it works here, you're now a member of the largest private college in the U.S, and you'll soon get used to the red tape, bureaucracy, and lack of help from the administration or anyone else in power. But, there's enough great stuff about the college that eventually you'll learn to deal...if a minor thing like that turns you off, then maybe NYU isn't the place for you...you have to realize that lady is some incompetent underpaid worker who doesn't give a damn about you.

Eastco can you tell me what your stats are. I'm really nervous cause im applying to nyu for fall 2009 and i just got my grades back for fall 2008 semester and my overall gpa dropped from a 3.67 to a 3.56 so i hope that makes me a worthy applicant.

EastCo22221- omg!!!!! congratulations!!!! i knew you were in there!!

Love3qualsHate- don't let those *****es get you down!! excuse the language! i talked to a couple people who were really rude too, but what they said to you was unacceptable, you should of asked to speak to a supervisor or something. but you want to go to nyu! don't let some rude person change that man.

I am so happy, so forgive me if this sounds like I'm rambling. Last semester, I applied to NYU, Cornell and U. of Chicago and was denied to all three schools. I was crushed. I felt defeated. I needed to clear my head and needed some time to think so I traveled all the way from Phoenix AZ to New York City all by my lonesome. I spent approximately half of my time at NYU. I attended campus tours, met with counselors, hung out at their coffee shop, well, now MY coffee shop, and fell in immediate love with NYU. I did take a bus ride up to Ithaca to visit Cornell, but knew wanted to go back to the school I wanted to go to most, NYU. This was the foundation for my whole writing portion. I applied to NYU, Cornell and U. of Chicago telling them what I thought they wanted to hear. I applied to ONLY NYU this time around, and applied as wholeheartedly as possible. My essays were very personal and I tried to show as much character as possible. I joined two clubs since then. I had three very solid recommendations (HS counselor, college advisor, college prof.) Ok I'm done rambling. I got admitted into the College of Arts and Sciences majoring Economics and Political Science.

STATS:

college GPA: 3.7
HS GPA: 4.38
terrible SAT/ACT scores
Student Economics Association
Sports Business Association
Uh... IDK what else? Hahaha

Honestly. This is so surreal. I'm so excited and feel like life can begin! From the bottom of my heart, I really do wish you all the best and hope you all get in! Feel free to ask ANY questions.

I CALLED IT! i said somebody would hear today and that they would be accepted. CONGRATS, i know that feeling that you have now and its awesome...what school are you currently at may i ask?

love-

the bureaucracy at nyu is mind numbing...i called about transfer credits and i was transferred to different departments maybe 10 times in one call, transferred to the same department again and again and i wanted to just punch myself in the head...and i also talked to a real nasty fellow over the phone at nyu, but he was the one that ended up answering my question...huh

Duffle,

You did! Dude, you so stoked for January?! I go to Arizona State University. In the Business school and honors college. Excited to go to a place like NYU!

hey guys :D
grats eastco22221 :D im happy for you :D thats awesome :D

also, i have something to say :) i didnt get anything back today, so as a result im gonna pull myself out of the running :) i know it sucks but the in the case that i was admitted, i wont have enough time to actually be able to ENJOY moving to nyu, it will be stress filled and crappy and i dont want that to be my first experience of nyu together with having to wait twice as long as i was supposed to.. also, i cant just call my girlfriend and be like, yea i got in, im moving.. i wanted a chance to think about it, and that is not what im getting so.. i guess this year isnt for me :) no regrets though :)

so first thing tomorrow morning, im gonna call NYU, and tell them that if they havent finished my decision yet, dont bother.. and if they have, i dont really care, cuz i will not be going either way :)

to those of you who have found out and got in, gratz :D and to whose who didnt, dont give up, ull get another chance, at nyu or another school :)

i will apply to nyu in the fall aswell, if that is possible, but also to about 7 other schools that i think seem exremely awesome :) hopefully ill get in somewhere :)

its been a great time in this forum :P lots of fun stuff has been written and ive enjoyed reading this every day :D

michaelw, i really do hope you get in, you deserve it :) and u2 coolant :) and the rest of the people still waiting :D
i would be right alongside u guys but i just really feel like, theyve gone too far for me to be able to accept it anymore.. its one thing waiting a week extra, or 2, but more than doubling the time isnt very cool... nov 1 to mid november is 2-3 weeks waiting.. this has been almost 7..

oh well, thats that :D good luck to all of u :) and ill keep checking the forum to see how it all turned out :)

ns89- we really have been waiting a long time! i know if you get in at this point you won't be able to see your girlfriend for awhile maybe ask them to hold your application for fall '09 or defer your enrollment till then. nyu really dropped the ball this year and seems really unorganized and slower than usual. it really is unfair that even if a person does get in this late they did not have the same amount of time to prepare like people who found out in november/ early december did. good luck ns89! wherever you end up you will do great man. i myself am not even thinking of nyu at this point. i'm looking at usc and boston university now.

hehe i dont think they do that.. but i guess if its possible and i got in, i could ask them :P would be nice to have 1 school for sure for fall 09 transfer :)

well dude! awesome :D im also thinking about usc and boston university !! :D

this is my list :P (in alphabetic order ;D )

boston college
boston university
notre dame
nyu
penn state
tufts
university of florida (maybe)
university of michigan
university of rochester (maybe)
usc
vanderbilt
wake forest

eastcoast-

you have no idea...ive fantasized about moving to new york the past five years, im probably just gonna walk around downtown for the first 3 months of school...if you want to chat about it, definantly hit up my AIM <-------

Anyways, I felt so happy that I made so many new friends (on the internet)....

I called NYU today and asked to see where they mailed my decision. They told me that they mailed it back to Taiwan. The counselor told me: "Unfortunately we are unable to offer admission to you."

Oh well, I am rejected by NYU....

I started my Parsons application and if I do get in, I WILL be at NYC fall 2009. Parsons is also located in Greenwich Village, next to Union Square.

So if I get into Parsons, duffle and love, we can meet up and you guys can show me around NYU!

Best of luck Michael.

coolant- thank you for the luck man. i don't think i got in so i might be joining the not going to nyu club very soon, but it won't be that bad. i am going to finish up some applications and when school starts up again ask some professors to quickly write me a letter of recommendation.

ns89- i'm looking into more schools, i just need to decide which other ones i want to apply to. deadlines are coming up soon though! maybe we will somehow end up at the same school! haha

this thread is winding down, but when i get my decision i will tell you guys, it really has been fun getting to know you all and stress out over nyu together!

good luck to everyone in whatever you do!
