2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

Off topic question

If I am not admitted into NYU, I am REALLY thinking of transferring to CAL State LA due to tuition. My parents are taking out a PLUS Loan to cover for my tuition, room and board, books, etc. However, I will be the one paying back the loans. I already have a student loan to pay back from Citibank.
I am getting extremely overwhelmed with the loans. What are your guys suggestions?

Plan:

Not accepted into NYU, transfer to Cal State LA or back to University of San Francisco? or Syracuse ( I haven't apply yet.)?

I rushed another transcript and it should be there now. this stress cannot be good for any of us!

coolant
I'm in the same boat you are in. I'm from California and it would be cheaper to go to a UC or Cal State and I already have loans to pay back to the school I go to now. If I'm not accepted into NYU though, I have already started the applications for UCLA, USC and Boston University. Let's just hope we both get into NYU and both get good jobs after college!

damn it's hard to concentrate on school knowing that either a rejection or acceptance is possible in the mail ;/

It really is :(
I am not in school mode at all! The waiting is the worst part. i wish it was like a band-aid if i don't get in, painful yet quick. Having to plan on leaving when there is a chance I won't get in sucks too.

@ everyone
What are your plans if you don't get in, stay where you are or apply to other schools?

I put in applications to several schools that interest me, NYU by far the best of the bunch being my reach school. I also have a target school and a safety as well. So if I don't get in, I'll be disappointed but at the same time I know I'll have other options. Then of course I could just stay where I am, my state school is looking nicer right now seeing as how everyone's running to them to save money in today's economy. But I really do plan on making every effort to transfer before I end up staying where I am.

Good luck all applying to NYU! I'll be keeping a watch on this thread.

Well if I don't get into NYU im going to Washington DC for an International Business internship/visiting student thingie at a university there. After that I'll apply to USC, UCLA, UCSD, and some other safety schools....most schools in Cali have an articulation agreement with my school so it'll be easier to get into.

Still though, NYU IS WAYYYYY BETTER!@

If I don't get into NYU, I will be heading back to University of SAN Francisco.

UGHHH

admissions does not have my college transcript...AAAH, people who have there file together probably have an advantage, WHY can't they just get my stuff togeth

anyways

im not in school mode either, hardcore sit on my hands and wait mode, this tension is killing me

2 dufflebagjesus:

how did you find your app wasn't complete? Did they email you?

@ dufflebagjesus
They don't have my transcript either! glad to know I'm not the only one. I call everyday and the lady just tells me to wait and that they have a lot of mail. I hope it doesn't effect our admission.

I don't know about dufflebagjesus, but they didn't e-mail me or anything, I called and asked if all my materials have come in and they said I was missing my college transcript. I have sent three in total and they still don't have it yet. but i'm going to call again tomorrow and hope they received it.

Isn't the stress in general horrible! Mainly because it could be for nothing or it can change your life forever.

Will they inform the applicant if the applicant's file is incomplete?

dufflebagjesus
What is your "concentration" going to be?

to all
I applied in 2006 as a transfer and didn't get accepted. Will they have my previous transcripts on file? Will I have to mail that transcript to them again?

This wait is devastating! I have a paper due next Tuesday for my World Literature class but I couldn't focus at all!

University of Miami informed me that i was accepted to their school yesterday. Now THAT is quick. They even had an online page what told me what i was missing with my application, and then that same online page (after i sent all the missing stuff in, of course) told me yesterday that i got accepted.

Now why can't NYU be like that? It's pure torture waiting on them.

coolant

a couple weeks ago I got an e-mail that said in part
"Due to the high volume of mail that our office is currently receiving, we are not able at this time to confirm what materials we already have (or have not) received in support of your application. For a complete list of application requirements, please visit our web site at admissions.nyu.edu and click on the “Applying for Admission” tab. Please also be sure to review the Special Admissions Requirements section to see if any additional steps will be necessary to bring your application to completion."

So that is why I called them. Maybe I would call them just in case and see if you have to send them.
And the wait is horrible! I wish NYU was like the University of Miami right now!

We need to wait at least one more month for the results. Why can they not be like University of Miami?

You guys don't need to be nervous about applying to NYU as a transfer. It's a **** school that wants a lot of money. Y'all definitely get in. My sister applied when as a transfer. As dumb as she was, she got in. Her essay was atocious, her GPA was disgusting, and her high school record is unmetionable. What does this tell you? It's a dumb school for dumb students. I currently attend NYU so I'm allowed to say that. Have fun coming here, you'll feel retarded. NYU degree means nothing. That's why I'm transferring out. Bye.

no they did not email me, i too have been calling them

i did not state a concentration on my app. and i do not know what it is outside of the fact it will involve politics and sociology

wow. obviously Jetset doesn't know anything. HATER!

I don't have anything to hate on, as I am a current student. Actually I do hate. I hate this school. It serves people dumb enough like you who are willing to place 52,000 dollars on a **** education. I take that back. Unless you are applying to stern or Tisch, don't bother coming here. The other schools are really for the non-intellectuals. I'm not joking. I'm in CAS and a pre-med student. The curricula is so easy, but the students are so dumb. I just want to strangle the students and figure out why they don't know what I know.
