2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

All you do is post about how you're the only intellectual at NYU above all the dumb students and how it's a dumb school. Get over it, you're making yourself look stupid. No one likes some arrogant bastard who is convinced he's smarter than everyone else. With an attitude like that, you'll probably be disappointed at your next college, and want to transfer again after that. Didn't you say that you were disappointed with your summer classes at Harvard, too? Yeah if even Harvard is beneath you, you need to get over yourself. I hope you strangle someone, so they throw you out on your whiny behind and you can't get into another college cause you'll have a record.

Harvard is too easy! ;] jk

wow! i didn't know these message boards got so heated!

jset1989 i'm sorry you didn't like NYU, that sucks to spend that much money on something you don't like, and i hope you get into the school you want to transfer to.

everyone else,
i hope we get into nyu!

NYU is a great school. Dont worry future transfers!

yeahhhhh Violets. Hahahah

I was looking at the NYU 2008 transfer forum and saw that a lot of the people there got their responses anywhere from Nov 15-Late November. Hopefully that's us too!

i hope it is too! just think in a little over two months some of us, hopefully all-that'd be pretty cool, will be in New York at NYU!

i called friday and they still don't have my college transcript! hopefully they will be finished sorting through all their mail soon.

what do you guys think was the best part of your application? essay, short answer, transcripts, SATs if you sent them?

Yeah that would be cool!

I think my essay was well constructed. It was a bit difficult to be creative with such a lame question, but I tried. My GPA is just "in the ballpark" and SATs not good at all. Recommendations were pretty good I think, and I also wrote a letter to admissions which I thought was cool. Activities were good as well. SO I guess everything except my SATs and HS GPA is good!

Love3,
I wrote a letter to the admissions, also. I'm relieved I wasn't the only one! I included it in the "additional documents" section and also mailed a hard copy.

I think the strongest part of my application is my essay. I think it accurately represents me as a person vs. me as a student. When meeting with an NYU advisor over the summer, he stressed the importance of differentiating yourself through the essays and letters of recommendation.

My weakest part of my application is my SAT scores. Hopefully, it won't be a deal-breaker considering I took them 3 years ago!

I had three recommendations: HS advisor, college advisor (phenomenal) and a college instructor.

Hi,
Is it necessary to send in a High School advisor's report or secondary school report for NYU? dont they just require ur HS transcript and then ur college advisors rec and ur college instructors rec?

I also wrote a letter to the admissions committee about the reasons why I had a two year gap in my college education and miscellaneous issues.
Does any one know will they have my previous documents on file?

Will it be a good idea to have my employer mail a recommendation to NYU?

I want to write one from the CEO of where I am interned, but someone on here scared me not to! should I? It would be amazing

som1
yeah, the high school advisor form thing is for freshman only, so you're good.

coolant/ Love3qualsHate
i think having an employer write a recommendation is a good thing! i think an employer has seen you in a different environment than a professor or teacher has.

thanks MichaelW....

However, my employer doesn't have PERFECT english.. is that alright with NYU?

i think as long as it shows you in a good light you'll be fine! but if you're worried maybe he can mention he is from a different country in the recommendation?? i'm pretty sure all NYU wants is the message behind the recommendation, I hope anyway! :)

AHHH HELP!

i keep calling to see if my college transcript has been processed and they keep telling me that they dont have it and they havent gone through all their mail yet! ugh! if my application isnt complete soon im afraid ill be reviewed near the end of admissions when theyre less spots available...are everybody elses materials in yet?

I am in the same exact position you are in dufflebagjesus and it sucks!!!!

they told me they are sorting through all the mail and that they would e-mail me if all my materials were not in. i guess they mean not in after they have gone through all the the mail?

i don't want to be reviewed at the end either. my college transcript is like the best part of my application and it sucks that it's not there yet.

is anyone else besides dufflebagjesus and myself being told not all of their materials are in?

Hey guys, I was wondering if high school record and SAT scores are looked at for junior transfers? I want to apply to Tisch.

Also, what's the financial aid like? Is it generous at all? I hear a lot of people actually transfer out of NYU because it was simply too expensive.

I am in the same position as both of you (duffle and michealW). Luckily, I live about 10 minutes from the office so I just went to drop off my official college transcripts. They still don't have my high school one though :-( I am also freaking out. The only thing keeping my calm is consider the fact that this is not just happening to one person. It is happening to many people, so we are not alone. Not great logic, but better than being more nervous than I am already!!
