haha

haha! california is pretty good on the weather front, but NYU is where i want to be!

everyone
so what school did everyone apply to??
i applied to steinhardt for media, culture and communication.

I applied to steinhardt for applied psychology.

MichaelW: Yeah it is! What part of So Cal are you from?

I applied to College of Arts and Sciences for Economics.

----> Sucks because apparently it's difficult to get in through Econ..!

I applied as a undecided to the College of Arts and Sciences.

don't know how well that works.

this wait is murder! meantime, i just picked up my acceptance package from University of Miami...i would be more excited, but i'm still waiting on what NYU says. Nothing would be better than a yes from them. Plus, it sucks how they refuse to tell you by e-mail or something.

i got a letter from NYU last week and nearly fainted at its thiness. Thank God it was only a letter telling me that they received my application.

Plus, being an international student, there's so much work you have to go through before going off! sigh

Love3qualsHate: i'm from highland, it's right by redlands if you know where that is, it's on your way to palm springs if you are coming from LA. you're from orange county?

prince_will: the wait really is horrible at this point! and i wish they did give us their decisions over the internet or phone.

everyone: it's nice we can stress out on here and worry with people who are in the same boat. i know i keep asking annoying questions, but i like to hear what other people on here think so:

why do you want to go to nyu? for me it's the city and the internships and all that stuff. new york just seems like the center of the world and nyu seems like the nicest school in the city.

I'm watching Top Chef New York right now and I was reminded why I want to go to New York. Aside from the fact that it is beautiful (NYC), it is also a mosaic of different cultures and people. If you want chinese food you go to china town. If you want REAL italian food, you go to little italy. I guess what I want is to venture away from my comfort zone and go somewhere different and fast paced.

Michael, I want to go to NYU because NYC is an awesome place, i loved the campus when i came to visit, and well, i always saw myself there. It's been a dream which i never thought so many people shared. I just want to be there.

The weather here was really nice last week and over the weekend, like in the 60's. Now, it's definitely getting colder... time to whip out the gloves. Also, beware of wind! It gets so windy here. Not gonna lie, I sometimes get like physically moved by it. The leaves are really pretty though. You guys will like it :-D!

I applied to CAS for art history. Leaving NY is going to seriously complicate my life :-/ but thats not really why I want to go to NYU. Right now, at my cc, I just feel so stuck. My opportunities are quite limited and the student body, overall, is not motivated. It's pretty depressing. I want to meet others who share my passion for learning, and for art history. Even though NYU is a "city school" I feel like I will be able to find a greater sense of community there. Just the other day I went to have coffee at this amazing place on "campus" and you just feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself... It's a pretty cool feeling, if you ask me. The city definitely adds to the experience, there is so much suck in and learn here. Wow, I wrote a novel. Sorry guys!

RCL, I feel the same way! I see my school and see a bunch of unmotivated people who don't want to do anything with their lives. I want to have friends who I can have a conversation about anything with, whether it be politics, art, music, etc at one of the coffee shops in NY. Or maybe go to the Met one day. Or maybe just walk around. That's my dream :]

Plus, If you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere! So by going to NY i'll get a little bit tougher (even though the LA traffic and bitc hiness makes you tough too!)

rcl, did you go to the starbucks on the square? it's franchised by NYU and there's actually classrooms below the coffeeshop. It's a popular student hangout. Washington square park is like our unofficial campus, do wish they would get construction done already! it's filled with crazy people...Samurai Guy (give him an orange, he'll chop it with his wooden samurai sword and read your fortune) and there's this other woman who talks to squirrels and they crawl all over her...heheh. The park is kinda gross, I wish they would fix it up and make it nicer. But right now they're focusing on the fountain, which won't be done till 2010 I think.

Stargazer-

I was thinking about going in there but I went to "Think Coffee" Have you been there? The coffee is really good and they play pretty good music also. It's so expensive though. It's slightly obnoxious. Small coffee, two dollars?! haha I wish they would finish construction already also! Once they finish it will be much nicer. I haven't seen samurai guy... next time lol. Which building is CAS? Stern's obvious but I didn't see CAS? Is it on w4th also?

stargazer, i went to the Starbucks at WSP and i enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere....though i hated the whole "leave your ID for the bathroom" thing..lol..

and whoa, that sounds hilarious. i hope i get to meet Samurai Guy if i get accepted. :P

I could care less about the weather because I do have a ton of warm clothes (i love to buy clothes =).
I applied to Gallatin School and is also thinking of Syracuse because they have a top notch Communication program.

My major is broadcasting journalism (switched from accounting).

Good luck guys! =)

I am feeling devastated to leave my current school. This school is full of "low motivated" students and their own hobby is partying at the beach. Furthermore, this school lacks diversity. By the same token, one spends most of the time completing the school's "rigorous" core curriculum. However, the core curriculum does not complement my "major" in any means.
NYU please accept me!

rcl - yep I've been there but never went back. There really is no building strictly CAS, but there's Silver Center and Waverly, where you'll have most of your classes if you're in CAS or LSP. They're not on W4th st but it's like a 4 min walk from the park.

You guys are making me feel happier about NYU, although I still want to transfer out! It's a great school and I hope you all get in - good luck :)

i really hope we all get in!

NYU certainly has its frustrations, but for me the benefits of being off a campus and part of the real life network (ie not just collegestudents) ive established for myself here in the city is important for me sense of well being and happiness.

I hate admissions!

I sent in my HS transcripts over a month ago, and they still don't have it.

UGH

Lol man you're all making me really want to be in NYC now!

With the freshman early decision deadline being the same as our spring admission deadline I'm sure the undergraduate admissions office is swamped with thousands of pieces of paperwork to sort through. So fear not! I'm sure yours is in the sea of transcripts and recommendations somewhere!

I'm a New Englander myself so I'm very used to the cold weather, but I don't spend much time outside during the winter so the weather will definitely take some getting used to in the city. I'm so pumped to go live in NYC though, still NYU is a very big reach for me, but our decisions aren't too far away! :)

edit - just called them, my application is complete, yay!
