@dancermom79, I just verified the ACT question with our Admissions Committee and here is what they told me: We do not superscore the ACT. We will take your highest composite score.
@Classof2017, Please contact our office to discuss the SAT questions you have. We are open until 5 p.m. and ready to help you out via phone or email. 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.
@hailtopitt1787 I noticed there is no place to enter ACT score on application, do you guys just get the score from when we officially send it? Also, is it necessary to provide middle school information?
Thanks
@pmleko7222, Yes, please just put down the date(s) you plan to take the test and have the scores sent to us. It is not necessary to provide middle school information, that option is there for those who took any high school-level classes in middle school.
@hebegebe, No, we do not require a FAFSA for merit scholarships. You will just want to aim to submit it by March 1 to be considered for financial aid (not merit-based).
I think I’m going to try to go for Pitt’s med school guarantee program, but I have some questions.
If I don’t get into the program, I can still be considered for admission to Pitt as a regular pre-med, right?
Also, if I do get into the program, but later in undergrad realize that I wouldn’t want to go to Pitt’s med school (unlikely, it’s an extraordinary school), am I allowed to take MCATs and apply to other med schools as usual? Or is the GAP program binding you to go to UPSM?
@0nknk0,
Yes, even if you don’t get the guarantee, you can absolutely still apply to the Pitt Med school later on. Same goes for the opposite scenario, if you change your mind about Pitt Med later on, you are not bound to attend at all!
@jjohnross, You have the opportunity to outline any significant extracurricular experiences in the optional Short Answer Questions portion of the application.
@hailtopitt1787 is that within the 3 questions asked on the application, or is there additional questions after submitting those? It will not let me go on unless submitting my supplements. Sorry for so many questions!
@jjohnross, No need to apologize for the questions!
It is just those three questions. Feel free to work references to your extracurriculars into your responses. And could you describe further what portion of the application you are stuck on? I am not entirely sure what section you are referring to when you say supplements, are you talking about the Short Answer Questions?
@almostdonewithhs, It should come soon! It will have the subject line “Pitt Application Confirmation.” Be sure to also check your spam, just in case. If you don’t receive it in the next few business days, feel free to check in with our office and one of our processors can assist you: oafa@pitt.edu.
@srk2017, SAT Subject Tests don’t really factor into our admissions or scholarship decisions. What we are really looking for is listed here on our site: oafa.pitt.edu/scholarships
Feel free to send them in, if you have already taken them, though!
If you have any more questions about the Subject Tests or anything else, feel free to contact our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.
@srk2017, Nope! Just like scholarships, students are automatically considered for the GAP, provided they meet relevant deadlines when applying. You can find the full info on GAP consideration for the specific Guarantee of your interest here: https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/guaranteed-admissions-programs/
Important deadlines:
Scholarships: apply to Pitt by Dec 15
Physician Assistant GAP: apply to Pitt by Dec 1
