I’m truly not trying to be difficult - I’m trying to understand. How do you read question 12 in the following link? Again, I am asking respectfully.

No problem. I’m sure you’re truly not trying to be difficult. Seems to me that GT has two different policies. The following link for GT undergraduate admissions seems to indicate either SAT or ACT scores.

they said that a ACT math/english score will be converted to an SAT math/CR score. they have their own scale and didnt disclose that info. oh and it works the other way around to, SAT to ACT. thats what the lady from tech said, and im going by her word

Pitt will convert ACT to the SAT equivalent. They did it for my DS’ ACT score.

However I don’t know if they will take the math portion of the ACT and the verbal portion of the SAT to come up with a “super scored” SAT & ACT number. I have not heard of any school doing this and it sounds very strange.

Tiger88–Now I’m really confused! Your above posts contradict each other and they look like they may have been posted at the same time. Still not sure if they DO or DO NOT Superscore the ACT.

Lol, tiger88, as if we weren’t confused already…

As far as I can tell, Pitt:
superscores the SAT (common practice)
superscores the ACT (relatively common practice)
converts a combination Math+Verbal ACT score into the equivalent Math+Verbal SAT score and then uses your best combo (probably common practice)
does NOT combine your best Math score from one test with your best Verbal score from the other to come up with a super-superscore (unheard of practice)

Under normal circumstances I would say, “Don’t take my word for it, just call the admissions office.” But then we’ve all seen how enlightening that can be :)

Best of luck to all of you anxiously awaiting decisions. It will all work out in the end, it always does, whether at Pitt or elsewhere. And despite the confusing signals you may be getting from the overworked admissions staff, Pitt is a great school. My son, a Pitt freshman, couldn’t be happier with his choice.

Anyone think it is somewhat unusual that only one person in the last three days has received an acceptance letter from Pitt? Last year many people were accepted within the first few days.

TIGER88: It seems crazy! The only thing I can tell you is that my son had two ACT sittings. He had a composite of 34 on each test. IF they were to be super scored he would have a 35 composite. The PITT admission officer told him to send both scores. He sent both scores. He was accepted to the Swanson Engineering school and the University Honors college. The letter arrived by snail mail to our home address in Michigan. He applied on line August 1st and the letter arrived on October 4th.

I know of a student yesterday in Western Pa that was accepted to the Honors College (not sure of his intended major). He only applied two weeks ago.

Perhaps the procedure has changed from last year and we’ve been spoiled by the quick turnaround time that has been reported. Sometimes too much information is not good, either!

My son was accepted today to the Swanson School of Engineering (big letter in the mail today 10/9/10 with the words ‘Congratulations’ on the front… he applied on 7/19/10 at the Ready Set Pitt Event and had all of his other stuff in by 1st week of September. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

i understanding applying early is always the best option, but do u guys think applying by December 1st is too late? i have other colleges due on december 1st and i just feel having couple colleges due the same date is a lot easier for me.
