Glad to hear that, psufan1993, hope the news is good!

But back to what I was saying earlier, as far as I remember S got his acceptances by mail (and mail only) from Davidson, Washington & Lee, Pomona, Univ. of Rochester, Pitt, Univ. of Washington, USC, and Franklin & Marshall. The only schools that let him know he was accepted by posting the decision online were Case, WashU and Rice. Interestingly enough, while USC provided a zillion online updates, it chose not to post what the decision was, only that a decision had been made–which didn’t really help lower the anxiety level. Davidson didn’t have an online system at all, while Franklin & Marshall’s was down most of the time…

I will also say that my husband and I were significantly more anxious than my son ever was during that time He seemed to take it in stride and so did most of his friends.

I recently just submitted my application online about two days. When will I receive my my.pitt.edu username and password to check what the admissions office has received?

Not sure about the others referenced, but Davidson has had an online system for years. I still remember my D calling out excitedly to us more than half a decade ago after checking online and finding she had been admitted! Anyway, good luck to the Pitt hopefuls:)

Not sure what Davidson’s system was 5 years ago, but last year they didn’t have any updates available during the application period. All they did was to say that once the decisions will be made, and not before then, they will email each applicant a unique login that the applicants could use to see their decision. I don’t know if Davidson then sent the letters by mail a few days ahead of the emails, but in my son’s case the email and the letter in the mail arrived virtually at the same time–two or three days before the April 1st deadline imposed to all colleges and universities. I suspect this is what your daughter was referring to, but frankly it didn’t do much to alleviate the anxiety as the information arrived almost at the last possible moment and you had no way to track your application’s progress.

My daughter applied when we were at Ready Set Pitt in the beginning of August. When we were there the admissions person said they would start looking at the applications on October 11. She recieved her acceptance in the mail today.

Let me know when you recieve your decision letter, and I will let you know when I do. We completed our applications almost simultaneously. :)

the online portal thing says my app was completed 9/18/2010 but i still havent heard from them. All i got was an email a week ago saying my essay stood out and to expect a decision soon.

When I call the admissions office to see if they’ve sent the decision, at 412-648-1700, the line’s always busy…

maybe it takes longer if you’re being considered for scholarship $ or guaranteed admissions programs?

Received an email that I have been accepted into the Neuroscience program. From what i know, University of Pittsburgh makes decision on a first come first served basis.

I still haven’t receieved my decision. I completed my materials at the beginning of this month and when I asked about my application they said that they have all the materials and I should recieve the decision email in few weeks.
