jjturlington & wmidnight:
Sorry that you didn’t get in. A waitlist has been established to those who are serious about attending the school. I would think that would be the case for the other institutions as well. DS made cleared to Chapman on the application that they were the top choice when applying last year. That being said, I hope this will help others who really want to attend Chapman.

Thanks, Ocelite, for your understanding. I totally agree with you. Waitlists are really important for those who have their hearts set on one certain school. I do think it’s ironic that of all the apps, Chapman was the only non-acceptance, so my comment was directed as commisserating support to another person who had the same experience–certainly not an attack on a school. All I was trying to say was that this application experience made it clear Chapman wasn’t a perfect fit in my situation. Not that it isn’t a perfect fit for others. Of course, applications only went out to schools where there was serious interest…that said, there is no reason to put off and perhaps miss out on a school that might be a better match, right?! Congrats to everyone who got in and who are so excited about their fit. That’s really wonderful - I hope everyone finds their perfect fit!! And, hopefully responding with a no to the waitlist will let someone who has their heart set on Chapman get in. …for the record…I am just one person, with just the one login. (and…ocelite…glad your DS–not sure what that stands for btw–is having such a great college experience! Here’s to wishing that for everyone!)

Is it safe to assume that if I didn’t receive an email to attend the admitted students day I am not accepted? It says my decision was “mailed” on the 2nd and I live in SoCal. I’m waiting to hear from Dodge I feel like it’d be odd to get into USC for film school and not get into Dodge. I hope this isn’t the end! Chapman is my first choice!

You got into USC and you’d rather go to Chapman? You go, girl! Hopefully we see each other next year I think you should get in, haha.

I apologize for my account’s comment. When I was at school, my mom managed to access my account and post that comment. I am truly sorry if she offended any of you. I do not wish to attack this school for waitlisting me. The admissions staff knew what it was looking for, and apparently I am not the perfect fit for this school. I am in no way angry about this, but I guess my mom is. I wish to make it clear that I have no intention of attacking this school. Congratulations to all who have been accepted, and I wish you all the best of luck in life.

After a full week of “Decision Mailed” I got my packet in the mail today, whoot whoot. And I live in Northern California, for those of you wondering. My package is postmarked April 1st. Submitting my $200 deposit ASAP and trying to come up with the $650 for housing in the mean time … pray for me!

avesnicole, If it says it is mailed, it can take up to a week to arrive. If you do not want to wait, you can call Chapman, and they should be able to tell you the decision. That is what they told me last week. They will only tell the student, though, and not a parent. They know they are late in getting decisions out and understand students want to know to make plans.

Congrats on your admittance annathatshibby!

annathatshibby: Haha, I’m not positive where I want to go, I almost wish I didn’t get into Chapman so I don’t have to make such a tough decision! I feel much more comfortable at Chapman but USC’s amazing reputation may win me over. I’m going to visit both a second time before deciding.

robfixit: Thanks. I called admissions and I got in! Yipee! Creative Producing. I’m not positive I’m going but I’m so happy to have the option.

anyone know of any types of merit scholarships that you can get at this late stage since my parents were dumb and didn’t want to bother with FAFSA and have all their info put out for everyone to see. so basically I’m in love with chapman, got accepted, and now their saying I have to choose another school because they won’t pay…

juicycutie,
I suggest for you to call the financial aid office and explain your situation. Good luck.

Merit scholarships at Chapman are financially blind. They do not look at your finances at all and only on your scholastic achievements. We never submitted anything and my daughter had the scholarship offer in the packet with the acceptance letter…the biggest scholarship offer she got from any school.

avesnicole. Congradulations on both your acceptances. My daughter got into USC architecture and digital arts at Chapman, so she has to decide on which direction she wants to go. My daughter’s best friend is dying to hear from Chapman to see if she will get into Creative Producing, and Chapman has not made a decision as of today. The fact that they decided last week for you gives us hope she has a chance. If she does not get in, she will be heart broken as she will then have to go out of state to go to school.

juicycutie,
Assuming you didn’t receive any merit scholarships with your acceptance letter because you didn’t qualify, and since you didn’t file for fafsa, perhaps you can workout something with the financial aid office or even apply for outside scholarships. There are a lot of companies out there also give out scholarships, but you have to apply for it. It is worth looking into.

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted to Chapman!

What do you need in terms of gpa and test scores to get a scholarship at Chapman? (My acceptance package hasn’t come in yet…). And how would we know if Chapman got anything from FAFSA? I filled out the FAFSA forms, listed Chapman at the top. I don’t see it on the “My Documents” section of web advisor…

^ I never got confirmation via My Documents or anything that they received my FAFSA. But when I got my aid package via “Financial Aid Award” on the portal, I saw they gave me grants and loans (I’m assuming based on my FAFSA).

chimchim,
The qualifications for merit scholarships may differ each year. It is best to contact Chapman’s admissions for the details on that. You will know if the financial aid office has your fafsa information, when they indicate your grants and loan information in your financial aid award letter on the webadvisor, or in the aid package in the mail. If you don’t see it, that means they are missing some information, perhaps your ssn is missing from their file or something. It is best to call the financial aid office to follow up.

anna,
That is correct.

What is the best way to let Chapman know that I want to change my housing from living with parents to living on campus, so they can permanently and affectively have that information correct?

music,
You will need to notify the Business office at 714.997.6617 to update your account information and the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 714.997.6603 for questions regarding campus housing.

So I heard a while ago that the preview day (admitted students day) is April 10th, which is this Sunday. How is that supposed to work if some people still haven’t even received a decision yet? Is that still the day for it or did they change it since they are so behind on getting responses out?
