Hi, while doing the check regarding admissions (no update) I clicked on the Financial Aid tab >Award > Award for Aid Year > Accept Award Offer and saw a status update as of Feb 26 -
“You have not been admitted to Binghamton University.”

TrilliumCB, I followed what you did by checking financial aid, not only did I not see the “You have not been accepted” part, but it said that in order to receive any estimate on financial aid I have to still send my final report card. Does everyone have this?

TrilliumCB, that just mean he is not “yet” accepted, meaning they won’t offer you financial aid unless you are accepted. It’s a financial aid status and have no indication of admission at all. I had that on my status before and I’m accepted now.

TrilliumCB has a good point and one I was thinking about as well. Is it a good idea to send the housing deposit to the #2 SUNY choice. Does it make any difference? I just fear my D will get tripled up if we wait too long. Anyone have an opinion on this?

@liljj1995… since the school has rolling admissions, I’m thinking that not being accepted YET does not necessarily = being rejected. My son is waiting too.

Hallow91, I’m thinking about paying/registering at his 2nd choice SUNY although i would hate to lose the $$. But first I am going to call and see what % of doubles they are planning to use as triples to see if I have time to wait a bit longer. During a visit to a SUNY last weekend (now knocked off the list for numerous reasons) they said 87% of the doubles will be used as triples next September! (minimum standards for prisons require more than 35 square feet per prisoner).

I called admissions, they confirmed that my son is still being considered, he has not been rejected. So still hopeful at this point.

TrilliumCB, Thank you for the information. 87% in triples?!?? Yipes, that is a scary thought. Adjusting to college is hard enough. We are visiting one of D’s favorite SUNY’s next weekend for accepted students day (she has been to the campus multiple times already), so I am going to wait at least until then. If she seems excited about the school I will definitely make the deposit as a space holder. I think at this point she is kind of over Bing, all this waiting tends to get on everyone’s nerves.

Buffalo has returned housing deposits to those with no use for the housing as they get very hard up. So I suggest sending the deposits there, as they do run out of housing each year and the triples, quads and off campus temp housing are not optimal.

cptofthehouse/TrilliumCB, I did it. I paid the pre-enrollment/housing fee for the “other SUNY” for my D. We feel good about it. Thanks for the advice and good luck!

cptofthehouse, thanks for the advice with Buffalo. My son wants to do a 5 yr. Engineering/MBA program, so as a back up we paid the tuition & housing deposit to UB. Of course I read the info carefully about getting a refund on the chance he does get accepted to Binghamton. I couldnt take the chance of him not getting good housing at UB. Let’s see what happens.

The payment page for newly admitted student is not available for me, however, the financial aid award page changed…from Award Overview tab, it says EXPECTED ENROLLMENT… I remember it was “You have not been admitted to Binghamton University.” Hope it is a good sign!!

Hi, My daughter was deferred also, I’ve looked and looked for the Financial Aid tab to check for my daughter but I cannot find the Financial Aid tab. Can you tell me how you get to it? Thanks…

@garfield1995 I’m getting the same thing now, too. My gut is telling that they’re changing it for every student, but part me will remain optimistic!

@KimsMom, refer to the post on the 3rd page – update us when you’ve figured it out so we can see if yours changed or not!

There’s a financial aid tab at the top of my son’s account after he signs in. Same as garfield1995 it said you haven’t been accepted at Binghamton and now it changed to expected enrollment fall full-time which sounds more optimistic but possible all financial aid portals are being set up since they don’t know who is in and who is out.
