My D was waitlisted, too!

Anyone today?

Hey guys, when do we find out if we are accepted /denied from the waitlist?

Still nothing :-(. I guess it’s better than being denied.

Has anyone heard of many denials? I haven’t.

Nothing yet I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing

Assuming you have accepted placement on the waitlist in past years a few students began to hear in April but most people are not accepted off the waitlist until early May. Good luck.

@dogsrthebest - Not sure where these stats came from, altough they are more encouraging that I had expected. My daughter waitlisted for Nursing - any idea what the stats by major are for accepted off the waitlist?

While UD does publish overall figures for the waitlist every year I have never seen it published by a breakdown according to majors. Nursing is one of the two most competitive majors for admission to UD and is also in the category of being a “Restricted Major” (due to limited capacity). UD gets over 1500 applications for admission to Nursing, accepts around 300, to end up with a freshman Nursing class of around 135 (with approximately 85-95 being OOS applicants). As a result of all these things my suspicion would be that the waitlist for Nursing is relatively small but I would not want to even guess at the exact number. Obviously the number of students accepted off the wait list would be determined by the number of students who decline acceptances and this number is impossible to predict. Earlier on this thread someone reported another individual who was waitlisted for Nursing on Monday. I do know that in the past UD has taken students off the waitlist for Nursing so it has happened. Hopefully if your D is still interested in pursuing admission to Nursing at UD that she did accept the offer for placement on the waitlist right after receiving the waitlist offer as the waitlist is not ranked, so the odds of acceptance improve with the earlier one accepts the waitlist offer. I wish I had more specific information to give you. Good luck to your D.

Thanks so much for all your great info you provide to us on this site Mwallenmd…!! Just out of curiosity, what is second of the two most competitive majors other than the nursing program?

Chemical Engineering

My S was accepted to JMU today! That’s 6/6 so far but still no word from his #1.

@Honeypie1212…that is so funny. My S heard from JMU today as well and he was not admitted. He is in at UD and is very excited to be a Blue Hen next year. I now have 2 Blue Hens…VERY EXCITED!!

When did he hear from UD? He is so stressed that all his friends heard on Friday/Monday but he did not. Odd that his #1 school is the only one he hasn’t hears from. Fortunately he has some great options between Penn State, JMU, George Mason. I know he will forget all about this time when he is on campus somewhere and enjoying wherever he calls home. It’s just tuff right now

@Honeypie1212 My S heard from UD on March 7th which was within the 8-12 period or very close to it. His application was completed in early Nov but he had a portfolio that was required and that was submitted in early Dec. so he was just about 12 weeks from portfolio submission time. My S loved JMU as well but was leaning towards UD before hearing from JMU. It worked out in the end. My D is a junior at UD so having both at a school we feel so comfortable with is great. I feel relieved to be done with all of this until I start again in 2 years with kid #3
Good luck to you S and let us know how it turns out and where he decides to go.

@dogsrthebest thank you! Good luck to your son. After reading some earlier notes of this tread I am guessing that more acceptances will go out on Friday. We have waited this long, we can go 2 more days (but not much more :-).

Do you think it’s a good sign that I haven’t heard back yet or a bad thing? I feel like I’m the only one who has no decision yet.

Thank you, @Mwallenmd - appreciate your feedback. D received a letter today saying they accepted 768/1196 (64%) of the waiting list last year, and 640/928 (68%) the year before. Mostly after May1, and again, no details by major. I may call tomorrow just to be sure they have her request to continue to be considered (she did it by email), see if they will give me any info by major, and ask if waiting list precludes her from any financial aid. Worth a call, I think - and hoping it doesn’t “hurt” anything!

. @miesha5 - sent you a PM. Go get 'em!!! xoxoxox

@emily96 there are many, many that have not heard back… we are only a couple dozen people or so that post on here regularly. Don’t worry I’m sure it’s coming soon.
