Mr. Wheatland is messing with your head. A quick perusal of his posting history reveals that this is not the first time he mocks the typical CC user.

^I agree.

For me, the e-mail said to check at 5 too. But I highly doubt I'll make it in. There's just waaaaaaayyyy too many qualified applicants and waaaaaaaaayyyy too little spots. Either way, I'm glad I at least tried.

I'm ready for a rejection. But if otherwise, even just waitlisted, I'll be feeling super uberly happy.

Tealberry, you are just jealous. I'm sorry you are not getting in. And endventure, perusal is not a real word and you are also jealous. I wish the haters would leave and drink their hatorade rather than spread malicious lies to the successful people.

silly me, wouldn't think to go perusing lol
seeing all those posts made me think lots of people = lots of gullibility
very well played joke (:

I cannot believe you think this is a joke. This is my future and you are laughing at it. I'm hurt and saddened. I hope 100Canadian doesn't get as devastated as your hatred as I do. At least Brown has accepted me even if Tealberry and endventure don't

joke or not, i'm starting to get REALLY freaked out right now. i was deferred ED and have a 5:30 checking time (east coast). if that's seriously supposed to be a clue i'll just add to the trend: FML

You obviously got in hopeful13. It's the people who are hearing at 6 and beyond who aren't getting in.

This is soooooo American Idol. They divided contestants into 4 rooms and pick 3 rooms. lol
I doubt that Brown does the same thing =)

endventure, this is just a technical question cause I'm technically challenged :-) You say you checked out Wheatland's posting history. How do you do this? And is there a way you can check your own posting history? Many thanks--I've tried finding this out for myself but I cannot--

I really hope we aren't reading into this too much. 9 times out of 10, i would be laughing over the fact that we are freaking out over whether we got accepted or not based solely on what time they told us to check. However, March is a special month and I am freaking out with the rest of you all...

I am seriously going to die of anxiety before I get to go to college :D

Guys chill out. As someone who currently works at the admissions office and who went through this last year, I can GUARANTEE you that there is absolutely no correlation between acceptances and the time the e-mail tells you to check your decision. Stop stressing out and arguing over it and just wait it out. Brown has to do it in "waves" so that the site doesn't crash. Also, the website really, really won't let you check your decision before the time they tell you...so there's no point of trying to check it at 5pm if your e-mail say 5:30 or 6.

Hoveringmom-- If you click on the person's name in the sidebar, a menu should pop up. One of the options will be "Find more postings by _____". This will take you to another menu where his/her posting history is listed. You can do this on you own name as well.

It can prove to be quite interesting....

Point-- if I haven't read a thread on this site, it's probably because the contents therein are assured to be nonsense.

I didn't read this thread until someone asked me to in a different one.

Even then I didn't read this thread.

These notification times and emails don't mean a thing. Honestly, Brown's been doing the online thing for many years and we've been doing the admissions thing for many years more than that-- we didn't make a 1980s movie plot level error which reveals admissions decisions early to people.

Xmobile - What if you didn't receive an email telling you what time to check???

I haven't read through this thread either, and just came here to assure everyone that there is absolutely no connection between the time you check your decision and whether you'll be accepted. I've been interviewing students for more than 30 years, and know enough about how admissions works to make that assertion.

But some people didn't get the email so what then? Why does brown have to stagger their online decision system - other schools don't.

Whew! Glad that modestmeoldy and fireandrain stepped in. This was turning into The DaVinci Code, with everyone trying to divine the hidden meaning embedded in their emails... ... speaking of which.... why, exactly, did you use the number "30" in your posting, fireandrain. Is this a clue? It's my sister's favorite number. Does this mean anything? Does this mean she's in? ;-)

/Only 19 more days, guys...

//19?? A prime number!? OMG. I'm waitlisted.

^you are hilarious!

endventure! Thanks so much! I completely could not figure that out---

20+% increase in applicants = significantly more system load than anticipated and can possibly be handled.

Staggering decisions = systems that remain up and running and therefore less phone calls freaking out because the system is down.
