<p>It is certainly true that my impressions of NU are based on our D’s very positive experience, which is for most of us the only real lense we parents have into our kids’ schools (unless we’re more helicopterish than I and seek direct contact with administration). </p>
<p>The reasons I’ve posted about NU this past year have been first, that so many people at CC provided valuable information to us during D’s search and second, that we came dangerously close to overlooking the perfect school for our D and I hope to have prevented some folks from doing the same.</p>
<p>I think I’ve probably added about all the value I can at CC and wish you all the VERY best of luck both in and beyond college!!</p>

<p>MTMama2013, I THINK, unless it has changed, that the musical theater studio at Tisch has 64 slots available in the freshmen class. Keep in mind that class sizes (in the classroom) in studio are about 16 students. Also, keep in mind that a larger program is not easier odds to be admitted as the acceptance rate for MT at Tisch is in the ballpark of about 6%. </p>
<p>A current MT family at Tisch could give you the scoop but that’s what I know from recent years.</p>
<p>PS…let me add that Tisch’s own site says that New Studio on Broadway (the MT studio at Tisch) has 64 students in the musical theater freshmen class. They also have acting students in that studio besides the MT students. Their site also states that class size will not exceed 16 students.</p>
<p>And if you are talking about NYU-Steinhardt’s MT, the class number is smaller…I know there are people on this thread who attend Steinhardt and could weigh in. But you asked about NYU, so I wasn’t sure if you were talking about Tisch or Steinhardt…</p>
<p>NSB at Tisch does allow for third year students to transfer in after they have completed primary training in another studio at Tisch Drama. It is by audition, and I do not know how many slots they make available. This is the first year there is advanced training at the studio (Advanced training = after completion of the Primary training the first two years).</p>
<p>Unofficially, I believe there are 61 MT freshman in NYU’s NSB this year unless there are some freshman without an email address (hard to believe) or people were left off an email distibution by mistake.</p>

<p>I heard from a parent that attended an Emerson tour/info session very recently that there are only 14 students in the freshman BFA MT class. (Instead of 24 that I thought they were targeting). Does anyone know if this is indeed true? I’d be amazed but I suppose it could be.</p>

<p>Pace (BFA-MT): 35 (17 men and 18 women) 40 offers went out and they anticipated a class of no more than 28. There were originally 38 acceptances but three dropped out last minute when they got off other college’s waiting lists. Pretty sure this is the biggest class they ever had.</p>
