congrats to everyone who got in...hope u all will get the finaid package u are looking for.....

congratulations surfin_bird and abhi

Congrats Pranjal :)

hello there :)

can anyone please tell me anything about the humanities at IUB? as far as i've seen, the school of humanities is by far less well-developed in terms of course offerings than the science programs. i know that IUB is pretty famous for its science and engineering school, but what about the school of humanities and social scineces?
ahh i need to make up my mind really quickly..
oh, does anyone have any thoughts on AUP?

What's AUP?

Sorry, I have no Idea about Humanities, why don' you ask on the IUb forum?

Is this forum really dead? Nobody planning to apply at IUB for the 2012 class?

well...actually this was meant for class of 2010!!!! :)

I am planning to apply for the class of 2012!

However, I have some questions. Any advice will be appreciated!

The College Counselor Recommendation. Whom should I ask to write it as we do not have any such representative at school? I read somewhere that it must be provided by a counselor or the head of school but our principal has rather administrative functions. I wonder wether he would be able to give a personal evalation as he hardly knows the students well enough. And I am not quite sure that he would agree to take a bunch of forms and write recommendations the whole day when teachers threaten to start the year with protests! Is it alright to ask him after all?

And how do you proceed with evaluations that need to be translated officially? As they are confidential, I cannot just get one to the translation service, I suppose. Should I ask the teacher to do this?

Do they change the topics of the essays every year? This year’s application is not still out on the web and I want to start preparing my documents early.

Oh, and one more thing… If I apply for the December deadline and receive their answer in 8 weeks as they write on the web and (hopefully!) it is a positive one when will the financial decision come out? When will I need to answer back? (I ask because I am applying to another school as well and its deadline for notifications is early April, for answering back early May, so I was wondering whether the two decisions will come out in the same time, so that I can compare them (and cry on both or laugh with joy!)

Well, I think this would cast a little light for me on the dark application process. Help, please!

Well, you indeed can go to your Principal even if he/she does not know you well…I was in a similar case..or you can go to vice-principal as well…To tell you the truth, it is YOU who will have to fill in the recs and get it signed..(I know it’s supposed to be confidential, but when there is no choice then you have to do it)…

You can go to your English teacher for translation…

Not too much. Essays’ topics remains almost same (even in Sense-wise), so , I think you can go ahead for now..

Well, the financial decision comes in a week or so..Don’t worry, they will inform you about the reply deadline..But, I am sure that it won’t be in MAY..I think it is around 15 March…

does anyone know when we have to reply if we are admitted under the first round or the second round?

Now I do: they suck!

Last year the reult of first round was declared around 25th January. You need the send the deposit within 6 weeks or something like that.

I am also applying this year and considern to apply for the second round.do they give much consideration for TOEFL results?on the web site the minimum score is 80 but would it be good if u have more than that?
and when u apply, they said u can apply for fin aid later.after receiving ur decision mail.does it vary greatly your fin aid packages even if apply that late .

the later u apply for financial aid the chances are u get less aids…IUB"s site clearly states “apply at the earliest when funds are available” if u are not seeking aid then it does not make a lot of difference…regarding toefl 80+ will be sufficient and i dont think it plays imm role esp when u have accquired min requirement for english

@everyone
as far as i know,Jacobs is truly a GPA/Academic based rather than SAT/Toefl.and about financial aid u wud hab to bear a couple of thousands and thousands of loans.

Can anybody answer me when will the decision of Round 1 for class of 2013 wud arrive…is it that they send mails to everybody on the same day or they inform us about the admission decision individually…and what’s the acceptance percentage.

Just found this thread–did anyone else apply in Round I this year, or planning to apply later?

I just got my acceptance email, along with a scholarship that means I might actually be able to go!!! Now I have hard decisions to make.

MITScholar: Well, I got my email today so you should hear soon if you haven’t yet.

^hey when exactly did you get your email? i applied round1 too and haven’t got anything yet.
@all Nepali:
did anyone get there decision? i’m so damn nervous.

Jan 23 4:37 AM EST. But I’m American, and my last name starts with P, and I don’t know how they decide in what order to send decisions.

Why does this school seem to be popular with people from Nepal? No judgment or anything, just curious.

^thanks for the info. i just can’t wait for my decision. <refreshes gmail=“”>
well there are many reasons for this school being popular in Nepal, nothing in particular really.</refreshes>

I hope you get an acceptance soon!! Is this your first choice?
